- Martin BCopenhagen, Denmark1,595 contributionsA really exciting exhibition that tells the story behind the brewery and the family, where everything was not in harmony. It is easy to find around the exhibition, where the story is told along the way. It is possible to order 2 other tours in addition to the museum. One is where you get down into the old cellars under Carlsberg and the other is a beer tasting. Both 2 trips take approx. 30 minutes It is free to visit the stables where live horses are kept, if they are not out riding around town. Is a cozy farm environment where you can sit and relax. Is it possible to eat on site. Definitely a recommendation, but not exactly cheap. Remember to book a place in advance. It all takes place in English as well.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 24, 2024
- EurybieeMacon, France1 contributionAbove all, we learn the history of Carlsberg and how beer was made before (not today). I really liked the "father-son" videos, the collection of beers and the bar at the end of the visit ;) The little games are fun and we can record memories on our ticket to find them later. I like the principle! FYI: no French translation, it is in Danish and English. The visit took us 2 hours, taking our time. The price is a little expensive however we paid around €25/person Thank you to the staff who were very friendly and welcoming! I loved the one who spoke to us about Malt, he put his whole heart into it and we understood his English well. Eat tak!Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 16, 2024
- Peter PLondon, United Kingdom13 contributionsGenuinely one of the best museums I've ever been to. In a historic building you'll find old industrial machinery, modern interactive / multi-media installations and enthusiastic & knowledgeable on-site staff, all combining to tell a fascinating story in a fun way. A must-see.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 9, 2024
- HenningSchmidtHannover, Germany117 contributionsIt's been pouring with rain all day. Luckily there was the nice pastime in the Carlsberg Brewery. Thanks to our tour guides who, after the highly interactive visit to the museum, took us through the former factory grounds and Villa of the company founders and their families. I learned a lot about Danish beer and Danish history. Afterwards there was a tasting, so that it could go back exhilarated after a meal in the restaurant. The rain could not be turned off on the day😀. Otherwise all great !!!Visited July 2024Traveled soloWritten July 13, 2024
- Greg SAdelaide, Australia1,352 contributionsUnless on a tour it is a little tricky to get to. From central, you need to take a city train to “Carlsberg”. If visiting allow 2-3 hours and pay the extra for a behind the scene experience such as the recently released war rooms…Visited August 2024Traveled soloWritten September 19, 2024
- Black_FatherKungsbacka, Sweden1,591 contributionsIf you are interested in beer brewing and Copenhagen's history, or if you just like beer, a visit to Carlsberg is a perfect activity. The tour gives a good insight into Carlsberg's history but also how Carlsberg as a company took responsibility for its employees and the city's development. In addition, beer tasting is recommended to gain further insight into what is distinctive about different types of beer. Really highly recommended.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 14, 2024
- FreddyNeitscheGeneva, Switzerland146 contributionsOne of the best "museums" that we visited in Copenhagen. it's only recently been reconstructed so everything is on 1st class condition, it is also very high tech. It is far more interesting that we expected, the life stories of the father and son were extremely well presented. At the end of our visit we were lucky as there were some of the horses in the stables, one of them bites so be careful, I was warned in advance but did not move quicky enough and suffered the consequences. It left a very painful reminder to an otherwise excellent visit. We also ate at the restaurant which I very much enjoyed, their smørrebrød was excellent. It also gave me the opportunity to try their onsite beers, the IPA was excellent, the stout was to remember with very string hints of Coffee and Chocolate .. I have an excellent memory of this occasion. It's not your typical museum and I would highly recommend the visit.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 21, 2024
- Catherine LBridgend, United Kingdom84 contributionsReally interesting tour albeit a bit of a trek from the nearest metro. Beautiful buildings, well described history, lots to interact with and listen to. Mini beer when you get there, and pint at the end, which sitting outside in the sun went down an absolute treat. It is accessible but lots of steep steps too, so not sure if all parts are accessible, may need to have a look. Beautiful courtyard outside, with Snack bar and also a restaurant inside. Soft drinks served in iced plastic beakers which was a nice touch. Came free with the Copenhagen card, so well worth it. Combined the morning tour with Fredriksen Slot in the afternoon (very near) to maximise timings l, and cool little sandwich place called Olivers between the two is also worth a visit.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 17, 2024
- İnci A1 contributionIt was absolutely a beautiful and enjoyable experience. They told about their experience over the years with a beautiful atmosphere and AI. It’s memorable and fun to narrate the brewing process inside with AI and games. If you’re on your way to Copenhagen, make sure to save time here ☺️Visited December 2024Traveled with friendsWritten December 8, 2024
- Russell PMedway, United Kingdom116 contributionsThis is much better than I thought it would be.... The basic tour is a self guided tour (starting with a beer taster) - however there are videos that draw you to the next stage. There is so much to see and do - you don't need to rush as the videos replay a dew minutes later. The Carling advertising posters through the years and different countries is amazing. There are just enough interactive games to play for all ages and you can become a Mastrer Brewer or choose which beer to virtually dance/drown in - which you can save to your wristband and download at home (for no additional cost). Near the end of the tour is someone who answers all the questions my wife could think of - very knowledgeable indeed! Finished up at the bar for a free pint in the bar / courtyard or garden. You can pay extra for a tour of the cellars and three tasters but I did not do this -although I may do if I go back. Overall amazing staff and great experience and I have just downloaded my pictures! Brilliant!Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 7, 2024

The exhibition is clearly made with tourists in mind, which is a shame as Carlsberg is a large part of Copenhagen's history. But as a local you don't feel welcome. Everything takes place in English and especially children, who could easily get a lot out of the stories, are completely hooked. The rooms have been vacuumed for Carlsberg's old soul. You don't notice that people have actually been standing and working here since the 1800s.
I would not recommend Copenhageners or people with children to visit the museum. It is not a local museum, but a soulless tourist attraction,

Hej Stine.
Tak for din feedback.

Fantastic to visit the new museum of Carlsberg after almost 5 years of renovation, a hugely innovative experience to follow and see the history surrounding the brewery in the old premises where it all started in 1847.
The collection of 23,000 different unopened beers is also a great experience.
Would definitely recommend it to everyone, whether you like beer or not. You get a free large beer or soft drink at the end of the tour.

Very disappointing the Carlsberg Restaurant. If you go hungry, be prepared to wait!
After doing the entire tour we went to eat at the restaurant, they told us a 10 minute wait to give us a table but it took 45 minutes. Then to take the order another 25 minutes, I asked how long the food took and the waitress told me 15 or 20 minutes and finally it took another 45 minutes to bring the dishes.
We left very angry, a lack of respect.

Very good 👍 This place has undergone a complete renovation, and only reopened a couple of months ago. It is informative, and has lots of interactive attractions in the exhibition. The site is free to enter, you only pay for the exhibition and historic tour.

Absolut not worth visiting. To pay 210 DKK for this is horrible, should be free. Entertain yourself for two hours? and the only beer they served was probably the worst beer in the world - the Hof. Not even a Jacobsen which is far much better. It was even worse when we went to the merchandise shop... not far from robbery. 200 DKK for a lousy ad t-shirt. 60DKK for at bottleopener (worth 5DKK) Save your money and go to a good beer pub instead.

Hi, thank you for your review.
We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. The exhibition seeks to encourage interactive experiences that unfold Carlsberg's history. We have recently added Jacobsen Juice IPA to the Carlsberg Bar.

We were here 5 weeks after the exhibition opened. It is a nice exhibition with the entire history of Carlsberg seasoned with old pictures and things in the original settings. Great interactive games and tasks as well as videos. The trip is about 90 min. but you can easily spend 3 hours here. Everything takes place in English or Danish and is a great experience. The staff are all super sweet and helpful. The exhibition can clearly be recommended

Lots of information regarding the history of Carlsberg, however, the tour felt more like a walk around a museum with no guide. An offering of a half beer at the beginning and a beer at the end was disappointing. Lacking interactivity. Horses were awesome!

The Carlsberg museum is really modern with a lot of interactive features. The wristband gives you opportunity to create various items that you can download afterwards, thus keeping the memories. The exhibition is very good and entertaining with focus on the conflict between father and son (J.C and Carl Jacobsen). It should be mentioned that the exhibition is NOT suited for people with disabilities because of the many narrow stairs. The location is brilliant in the beuatifyl old building. At the end it is very very poor that they only serve two kinds of beer. Shame on you.

I booked the Carlsberg brewery yesterday in Copenhagen and first tour was 12.30. We got there early and had to sit in car as they would not let you in till exact time. It was interesting regarding the family who first started it but we thought that when we were taken to cellar tour it was rubbish. There was one room which they created a few things to show us but very short lived. Then we also booked the beer tasting. We again went to the cellar and stood by a table shared with 7 people. They gave us one bottle to taste the beer each time and it was over in a blink of an eye. No souvenir offered consternation paid a lot of money to do this. Very disappointing.

We live in the neighborhood - hence why we visit the horses often and the brand store where we purchase local gifts for friends.
During Christmas the brand store had a reindeer that my son loved to come and pet. Naturally, as it was February the reindeer was gone and my 2 year old was disappointed. But then comes one of the employees with a pillow with a horse on and tells him that it is no reindeer but he can have it.
My son now sleeps with the pillow every night saying that it is Mauritz (a former pony at Home of Carlsberg). It really made him feel special.
To that one employee - thank you for going out of your way to make my kid happy.
Further, all staff are always smiling and welcoming - this was just the very extra mile that warmed my mother heart.

What’s the best way to get to the brewery from the cruise ship terminal?
Written February 9, 2025
Planning to visit with some friends, but some cannot stand the smell of beer, so I wanted to ask: is there a strong smell of beer throughout the whole tour or just in some areas (e.g. at the tasting step)? 😊
Written August 6, 2024
There is no smell at all. It is like an interactive museum. No worries. Just go for it.
