The area
Neighborhood: Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

Quite a pretty square where several of the retail streets meet. The Stork fountain and an equestrian statue are located there, surrounded by some grand building facades. Nice pavement design too with outside cafes.

This historic square is located next to Strøget pedestrian street. The name comes from the Højbro Bridge which connects the square to the Slotsholmen island on the other side of the canal.

The main feature on the square is the equestrian statue of Bishop Absalon, the founder of Copenhagen. You can also find the Stork Fountain from here.

We saw nobody playing a cello, but a beautiful space all the same.
A selfie with the sign as in the song is a must.

It is a rectangular public square adjacent to the Pedestrian Zone in the center of the city. There is a area bridge which has a similar name to get oriented in the city. There is huge historic statue which sits at one end who founded the city. It is very dramatic presentation in the statue and seems to draw people to the area while strolling the Stroget, this square is a great place to rest, have a coffee or lunch and relax. People watching is a full time job for some. Worth a visit.

This is the heart of Copenhagen, and a nice spot to start from for other places, or just stand and look at people buzzing by on bikes and walking!
I spent a bit of time here taking some street photos, as all characters passes by here :)

A lovely square surrounded by historic buildings and shops with great views of Christiansborg Palace. When we visited there was a great Christmas Market onsite.

We passed this square on our way to Christiansborg Palace. You can find a large equestrian statue of Absalon, which was unveiled in 1902 to mark the 700 years' anniversary of the death of Bishop Absalon, the city's legendary founder.
