The area
Address
Neighborhood: Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

Not much to see here unless of course you like stuffed (taxidermy) monkeys. There is a large exhibition of monkeys, quite interesting in fact.
After the monkeys there is not much else, at least there are no more animals or nature exhibits. Then there is the photograph exhibition which covers the top floor. All good but not what you expect in a natural history museum. I expected a lot more about the natural environment and animals.

Very small, interesting entrance! Not necessarily in a good way (painting) if not to your taste. Exhibition of taxidermized apes was pretty good if you don’t mind that sort of thing. This was a visiting display so may change. Only other display is of some gemstones which is pretty poor for a natural history museum, I presume new building will mean they have more on show in the future.

Good museum with lots of advanced geology. Includes a souvenir shop and cloakroom and as well as a cafe. Close to the botanical garden and national gallery museum.

Firstly, there is no storage for suitcases just some very small lockers. Secondly the place is shocking at how small it is! Part of it is coming soon but the photograph area and the rocks took all of 25 minutes.. we had a card to get in but if I had paid nearly £30 uk pounds to get in I’d have been angry..

I visited at the end of the day to see the Wildlife Photography of the Year exhibition. This was amazing! The photographs are explained in both English and Danish. You probably need an hour to see just the photography and I ran out of time to explore the rest of the museum. But of you are in Copenhagen whilst this exhibition is still on it is a must!

The entry was reasonably priced. There are free lockers for belongings. Good shop and friendly staff too.

This museum was very small compared to others we’ve visited, it seemed to be themed on neanderthals but we were unaware that it would be 95% about them we still found bits interesting but struggled to spend over 30 minutes in there. If you like Neanderthals this will be up your street if not don’t bother.

Bit underwhelming. We saw nice exposition (temporary I guess from all the ads) dedicated to Neanderthals... aaaand that was the highlight. There was wildlife photo exibit, nothing that would blow your socks off and a geological mineral collection that's impressive, but again, as it's norm in Danish museums - there's next to none descriptions of what you see.

In a fine purpose-build from the 1890s is housed an impressive display of crystals and minerals collected from around the world.

Sparkles and colours are eye catching, as is the norm with similar everywhere.

Not suitable for small children - we visited with my 2 year old hoping to see dinosaur things, to then have to pay and realised only when inside that the museum was shut except for the wildlife photographer of the year exhibition. I’m sure that is nice but not suitable for a toddler and really disappointing we weren’t told before we had paid/ entered. We also had to leave our pushchair outside the building and carry my toddler up the stairs when inside. We eventually got our money back but would not recommend for young children at all.
