The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

Stylish Cathedral, not too glitzy and over the top.
The large neo-classical pillars outside the main entrance are an indication of the smart but understated interior. The twelve apostles statues are stationed 6 on each side and are highly detailed, so that you would know who each one was if they hadn't been sculpted with their name. The interior also has some distinctive seating arrangements with the pews, some are facing each other, not really seen this before in a major Cathedral. It was free entry at the time we visited but a little donation would likely be appreciated. We found this to be a very pleasant surprise and would recommend this as a good place to visit on your Copenhagen visit.

    Well worth a visit
On my to visit the University of Copenhagen I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful church. So happy I did. Great place to sit and chat with Jesus in peace. Full of light and at the time I visited they had a class of children learning about the church and playing the organ. The sound was amazing. Beautiful sculptures of the 12 apostles but most importantly I truly felt the presence of Jesus when I was in there.

    A beautiful church
We enjoyed visiting this church with its statues of the 12 apostles. Its elegant design is captivating and, when we were there, there was a great sense of peace. We got there when it first opened on a Sunday morning. Worth the effort to go before there are too many people around.

This is a free and somewhat out of the way church, definitely worth a visit for the amazing sculptures by Bertel Thorvaldsen if nothing else. His sculptures of the Twelve Apostles are probably some of his best work. Otherwise, the church is peaceful and an excellent example of the Protestant aesthetics. It's also located directly across from the Reformation Monument.

Beautiful church, simple and shocking. Notable are the sculptures of the apostles and the baptismal first name. If you are lucky enough to go when they are playing the organ you can live a wonderful experience. In our stay we could not enjoy one of their famous night concerts. On the web, networks and outside of publish the different events. A must-see in Copenhagen.

Simple lines. The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, but with the statues of all the Apostles. It is worth a visit. Without stained glass, without a huge volume like a Cathedral, it exudes a calmness.

A neoclassical building that was completed in 1829. The current construction is the fourth church, the previous ones suffered fires and other damage. Its facade is simple, but on entering we find a beautiful place. Highlight the white color of your walls. The image of Jesus Christ made of Carrara marble stands out, accompanied by the twelve apostles distributed throughout the temple.

I visited this church on the first day of my stay in Copenhagen. After visiting Sainte-Chapelle, Sacré-Cœur, and other cathedrals in Paris the previous week, it is hard to look at others without comparing them to those magnificent works of architectural and artistical wonder. But, I was able to here. Comparatively, it is much simpler than other churches. But, that does not mean it is a bad thing. Sometimes, less is more, and this church can harness its simplicity to create a holy and peaceful atmosphere. Sure, it might not be covered in gold and stained glass windows, but it is a beautiful church, and a beautiful building.

This church is located near Amalienborg castle. It is somewhat out of the way and not as extravagant as many other churches yet it has a charm of its own. Inside the church, some of the pews face each other. If you are already in the area check it out, if not, you can skip it.

All over Europe Cathedrals are usually the grandest and most lavish decorated Churches. However, that's not the case in the Danish capital.
Church of our Lady is a pretty modest one, with a neo classic front with columns and simple interiors. It's set in the old town, close to Rundetarn and University, so it will be on your way.
