I am only scoring this 4 out of 5, because i did not get a chance to have a look inside. The facade is so detailed and so interesting, and for an architecture buff, it's a must see. I have been told that the interior is rather beautiful as well. Would definitely go next time I'm in Copenhagen.

A magnificent piece of architecture worth visiting and walking around on all 4 sides as the decorative surfaces both on the building and on the exterior even on the sides and streets are very cool. A short walk from the main train station. the Doctor

Glamorous, charming, it makes a statement, it is imposing in the city square, very close to trams and trains, some fabulous performances, well worth part of your evening to catch a performance if you get the chance.

The Royal Theatre is located on a busy intersection and there is some construction going on at the moment as well, so you can't hang about without going inside really. It's well worth the trip.

The house in todays form was opened in 1874. But already in 1748 existed the Royal Theater. We were coming here to visit the house, not for the performance. It was Don Giovanni, what we have seen in seven different opera houses. But we loved this performance, it was excellent. The house itself is like other oprea houses across Europa... More

We took the guided tour which was at 16.00 every day in Danish and English. It takes about 75 minutes and you will have a great insight behind the scenes, you even get into the royal boxes and on stage and below it.

Visited the Kongeliege Teater to see the Royal Danish Ballet for the Dame of the Camellias. Sensational! The dancing is muscular and full of energy, but controlled. Got to see one of the Queen's sisters in the Royal Box. The Dancers bow first to her...and then the audience.

I was moved to tears. The precision of this piece, in combination with the beauty of the music and the theater itself, what a combo! The outside is far less impressive than the inside. Always worth a visit.

I was deliberating - should I review our attendance at the opera under the title of the Royal Danish Theatre or the Copenhagen Opera House (which also has a listing on TripAdvisor). I decided to do the former, because that is what will be written on your tickets, which you should purchase online, and then you have to double-check which... More

I wanted to visit the opera house and thought the best way is to buy tickets for a representation. The internet buy is easy ,just pay attention if you select the printed option of the ticket, it means you have to print the ticket and have it with you in order to enter the show. I came from Sweden,by train,and... More

Staying in Indre By (Inner City)

Neighborhood Profile
Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.
