The area

Address
Neighborhood: Amager
In the eastern part of this neighbourhood, visitors will discover Amager Strandpark, a beach area which has become increasingly popular. It’s only a 30 minute bicycle ride or a 10 minute Metro trip away from the city center. Only a few hundred yards inland, some of the most creative musicians, artists, and writers in Copenhagen are occupying some of the old storage houses and production facilities. The western part is one of Copenhagen's most rapidly evolving areas, here you’ll find international architecture of the highest rank, the state of the art TV-Byen (the Danish pendant to BBC), a golf course as well as Copenhagen's best (and tiniest) ice bar.

    Unforgettable swim
It is an absolutely fantastic place like no other. The public swimming area is full of life with tourists and locals enjoying a swim in cold refreshing waters even on a couldy windy afternoon. My best memory from Copenhagen!

Sometimes it's nice to get away from other tourists and the crowds
Does not have any tourist attractions as such but if you take the time to walk around this area you will see Danes going about their lives, and sometimes it's nice to get away from other tourists and the crowds. During our Saturday stroll we saw team competing in "kayak water polo" (yes there is such a thing) , joggers, swimmers, rowers and families out enjoying the day. Very relaxing.

    Perfection
Perfect city’s edge neighborhood still connect to everything and walkable/water taxi, train, bike rental. Amazing harbor bath swimming/diving area with frequent public events and festivals. KULTURHAVN FESTIVAL at the end of August is amazing. Stayed 12 years apart and amazing both times.

We went here specifically for the "love lock" aspect found on the Bryggebroen bridge. I had planned it for my husband as an anniversary surprise.

I bought an engraver, and hand engraved our wedding date and other information onto the lock.

We locked it onto the bridge and sealed our love, all the way from South Africa to Copenhagen! He was super surprised and now we're a part of a small part of history!

We took time to walk around and admire the board walk and clear, beautiful harbour waters.

The city of Copenhagen is rapidly becoming the urban swim Capitol of Euorpe. Fantastic swimming in the harbor, at the beach in Amager, or off a pire at Dragor. No changing rooms do bring a towel and do the DK shuffle with the locals.

A very wide promenade that's very picturesque. Just strolling was nice. Went on a cooler day and few swimmers butnthings to do and grab a beer too.

My family were staying in an AirB&B in the vicinity. A great location, handy for the city centre and all usual attractions, yet far enough away to be a bit quieter. In summer the area in the picture becomes a city centre beachside. It was great, we just enjoyed mooching along the riverside, stopping for a beer here and there.

This is a nice place to bike around, to swim in the Summer (and Winter) and to simply stroll along.
There are very nice modern buildings around which makes it a perfect place to take pictures of modern Danish architecture.

Stayed in the Stay Hotel on Islands Brygge with my wife and sons age 12 and 16. Apartment was large modern and clean, its only a 5 min ferry ride or 25 min walk from the city centre. The place is like one big building site however very noisy from 7 am, though not at weekend. Plenty to see and do, especially if you are a water sport fan. Cycling is the preferred mode of transport with excellent cycle ways.

We arrived at Islands Brygge after getting the water taxi hoping to get off and find a place to eat. However, trying to find a place to eat was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. We followed the maps but most eateries were take outs and not restaurants like we were hoping - The restaurants that were listed on the maps were shut! Sadly, we ended up just wandering the streets for approximately an hour before leaving and walking christianshavn and getting a meal there. Appreciate that it is January but thought at least some restaurants would be open! Having said that I can imagine on a warm summers day it is a lovely area to visit and relax.
