The area
Neighborhood: Amager
In the eastern part of this neighbourhood, visitors will discover Amager Strandpark, a beach area which has become increasingly popular. It’s only a 30 minute bicycle ride or a 10 minute Metro trip away from the city center. Only a few hundred yards inland, some of the most creative musicians, artists, and writers in Copenhagen are occupying some of the old storage houses and production facilities. The western part is one of Copenhagen's most rapidly evolving areas, here you’ll find international architecture of the highest rank, the state of the art TV-Byen (the Danish pendant to BBC), a golf course as well as Copenhagen's best (and tiniest) ice bar.

this is a magical part of copenhagen. Along Islands Brygge you find awesome spots for recreation and bath. I love to run all the way down to the great opera with amazing architecture. On the way there are crazy many nice stops, for food, for design, for a drink or for some nice atmosphere.

The general area is now unrecognisable from the industrial area that i worked in in the late 70's/early 80s. It is a shiny glass facade type place now!

Our Airbnb was located here and it was a great location to stay in. The center of Copenhagen was easily walkable, services were excellent (food markets, wine, coffee, etc.) and buses and subway nearby. We appreciated being in IB as it was peaceful at night and felt calm and safe. Nice to be away from the tourists and crowds. Walking the river is lovely with numerous bridges to crossover whenever you're ready to get "back in it." Great part of Copenhagen.

Wonderful area to stroll by the water on a nice Danish day. Easy to sit and people watch with a snack and drink or swim or ride a bike... great path away from busy streets.

Pay a visit to to the top end of Islands Brygge where there is free swimming in the Canal. A few local bars, Ice cream shop, and cafes all Close by. Also have a place called Kulturehuset (Culture House), where they have live musik, a cafe and good view onto the canal. Also, try and rent a boat from Go Boat, friendly guys, you Can take drinks on board, and travel around the canals in Christianshavn and Frederikshavn. Just 15 mins from Central Station, either walking, or take the Metro to Islands Brygge.
Very Nice restaurant called Aristo, expensive, but worth it.
