I am a big art fan but I honestly don't get the over-hyped reviews. The permanent collection of European art is very average, the Nordic and Danish collection is admittedly very complete and perhaps the only one worth visiting on a rainy day. Please make...More

There is a large water fountain outside the National Gallery, which is quite a cool place to take pictures. There are a few permanent exhibitions which are free, and some special ones which will cost extra. The Danish and Nordic exhibition and the French one...More

Very impressive national gallery, free entry apart from special exhibitions. Free lockers to put away coats, bags, etc. in the basement. Excellent facilities. European art section (1300-1800) and Danish and Nordic art section (1750-1900) well worth exploring. Nice part of Copenhagen to walk to on...More

A really impressive museum that gives a great overview over Danish and Nordic art. Most impressive was the stark contrast between the mostly depressing and melancholic art of the 19th and early 20th century and the vivid and innovative art of the later 20th century...More

This is a spacious gallery, well designed and beautifully extended. The well-lit rooms show the art well, and the collections are large and interesting. We also checked out the basement restaurant, and this was of a good quality as well. We spent most of the...More

Lovely building. A fantastic mixture of old and modern situated in a beautiful park overlooking the old moat protecting Copenhagen. The Golden Age of Danish art is well represented here. The museum also contains a big collection of European art. It is weel worth a...More

Well worth spending a few hours browsing the great art collections. Both classical and modern art. There is a great cafe to have a break for tea and pastries/cakes all very reasonably priced. Gallery is free to enter.

The building itself is majestic. The grand, palace-like structure has been impeccably remodeled and the additions are modern and use a great deal of glass. Like the building itself, the art work housed inside is a blend of the old and the new. Whether you...More
