Well, it is a cemetery indeed. But you will see a huge amount of people having a picnic or a sun-bath there. Or just walking around - with babies and dogs, and without - like in a park. Love it.

Assitens Cemetery is a park located in Norrebrograde street. In fact, it is a cemetery, where there are buried some important Danish like Kirkegard (the philosopher), Niels Bohr (the quantum physicist) or Christian Andersen (the writer). In the cemetery, you can walk quietly and lost...More

If you are not particularly excited to see the graves of HC Anderson or Soren Kierkegaard, (and Niels Bohr), then this will literally be a walk in a park for you. If you are looking forward to seeing these landmarks, then it will be totally...More

I didn't find them right away, but eventually locate signs with maps to Hans Christian Andersen and Soren Kierkegaard's graves. Interesting how much activity there was for a cemetery.

We came upon this by chance. It's not a sombre cemetery. There are people relaxing, playing and walking through this. Treated as a park. Some of the tombstones are one of a kind and the gardens around them are attractive.

Get away from it all and visit this beautiful cemetery which is full of famous Danes including for many of us not from Denmark nine other than Hans Christian Anderson. Collect a map as you walk in. Identify the individuals you've heard of and follow...More

Visited purely to take the ultimate picture of the avenue of trees. Absolutely stunning place - paid our respects to H.C. Andersen, the cemetery is such a beautiful comforting place - a must see.

One of Copenhagen's many bicycle “highways” plays an
integral part to this neighbourhood as it snakes its
way through the city. This bicycle path, which allows
you to pass almost unhindered from one end of town to
the other, is bordered by green oases, skater parks,
benches, cafés and all kinds of other recreational
facilities. One of the major squares surrounding the
bicycle path is called the Red Square, which offers an
