Must see but....

This is the classic view of Copenhagen so it is a must see. However, this is a main tourist area and watch out for the prices.

Interesting part of Copenhagen. Across the water from the main portion of Copenhagen. Cross one of the bridges or take a boat ride through the canals. Fun part of the city.

This island has a villagey feel and contains some great sights, in particular the Church of Our Saviour with its external spiral staircase and the amazing hippy commune of Christiania. There are some lovely walks along the shore of the lake on the far side where it's very peaceful.

A landmark in Copenhagen. One of those special places that you wander around (pictures not encouraged) and breathing is its own reward.

We enjoyed the morning we spent wandering around this area. It was much quieter than Nyhavn so not so rushed and busy!

This area of Copenhagen is postcard material! We decided to take a canal boat tour to visit the area and we found it well worth it. After the tour, we knew exactly where we wanted to focus our attention to continue our visit of Christianshavn. Don't miss this colorful, picture-perfect area of town! Oh! and by the way, the boat... My boyfriend and I passed through Christianshavn one early morning, we were both tired and cold, when we found trampolines on the path beside the river! This is such a clever idea, such a cute little feature made both of us so happy, a fun thing to do in a beautiful part of Copenhagen :)

Beautiful streets with colourful buildings of century with waterfront docked with numerous personal boats. Connected with bridges in between where you can stand and enjoy local people going on with their lives and every often a canal tour boat packed with tourists passing through. Nice to also see some boat houses where people actually live. Nice small restaurants and shops... More

Staying in Christianshavn

Neighborhood Profile
Just across one of the many bridges from Indre By, you’ll find Christianshavn. An eclectic area with old brick lanes, houses dating back to the 16th century, and canals which are home to many boats and ships, some of which has been turned into restaurants or even serve as fully furnished homes. The best known attraction in Chistianshavn is Christiania, a “free town” of residents who squat on a former military area. However just a stone’s throw away from Christiania, you’ll find some of the most fashionable waterfront apartment buildings in Copenhagen as well as the splendid Royal Opera House.
