About
At Hey Captain we do Social Sailing, where you meet new people and explore Copenhagen harbor. We started as friends on a boat and this is the atmosphere we want to deliver to our guests. It's a talk and a dialogue more than your standard classical tour. During the tour your captain will show you our favorite sights in the harbor. There is plenty of time to ask questions and we hope you want to engage in a conversation about life in Copenhagen. Our ambition is to give you a sense of the city more than an overload of historical facts. The route is not 100% standardized as we want to try to accommodate specific wishes of the group and special events in the harbor. The 2-hour Hidden Gems Tour will take you off the beaten track from the standard canal tour routes in the inner town, exploring the upcoming residential areas of either the South or North harbor. We hope to see you on board and that you will embrace our concept of Social Sailing. The Hey Captain Team

We were part of a great group of friends on a Rick Steves's Tour and had one afternoon to ourselves. We chose the Harbor and Outer Island tour of "Hey Captain" and were totally satisfied. We so enjoyed the trip out to the artificial island used as a fort by the Danes and then by the Nazi's in WWII called Trekroner. It's inner harbor is now a popular boat dock and swimming area. The Fort itself is really interesting, with many parts in almost pristine condition...even showing a WWII German map of Denmark on the wall.

It's said the island was originally made by the Danes sinking twelve tall ships to keep out the Swedes. Cool! We then cruised the harbor and port facilities and saw the tail end of the Little Mermaid. All-in-all a wonderful time and we highly recommend it!

Did the one hour landmarks tour. Our only regret was not being able to do the two hour hidden gems tour.

All the staff were excellent; friendly, chatty, informative and the boat was very comfortable with blankets provided, and beers in the coolbox. The social element of the tour was very enjoyable too, so especially good if you enjoy talking to people.

We were very pleased to have done this rather than one of the big bus-style boats which looked very busy! Our boat only held about 12 people so was much more personal.

We had a really nice and fun tour with my friends for my birthday. Our captain Peter was very friendly and flexible. He could see that we were close friends, so gave us a lot of space, yet managed to engage and interact with us. The rain stopped at the last part of the trip, we could take off the roof, make lots of photos. We drank champagne, listened to music and enjoyed beautiful Copenhagen views. Definitely a winning idea for birthday! Works for both local and foreigners.

In addition, I want to mention that administrators of HeyCaptain were so friendly and accommodating. We had to make a few changes to our reservation, which were met with complete understanding. Thank you very much!

We were a group of 12 people out for a tour on the water to celebrate a soon-to-be-bride, but none of us will probably use Hey Captain again. Our departure was almost 30 minutes delayed which messed up our schedule for the day. We could have lived with this if it wasn’t for the very unfriendly and rude manager. From the beginning it was unclear to us whether or not we could bring our own drinks on board since we were told on the phone that this was a possibility, but when we arrived it was apparently not allowed due to the size of our group which we found very strange and unclear. Only if we purchased expensive bottles of alcohol in their own bar were we allowed any drinks on board. The Manager made a scene in front of the entire group, including the person that we were celebrating which killed the mood. The concept is supposed to be about social sailing and having a cosy time, but these values didn’t shine through at all in this behavior and how the situation was handled. Very unprofessional and such a shame as the captain of the boat was actually a nice person.

Hi Viktoria. First of all, our deep apologies for being 30 min. delayed. We always strive to keep our agreed times, so this is of course not okay. In regards to the confusion about drinks, we feel we have been very clear in our communication. When you book, it clearly states that you are not allowed to bring your own alcohol. We sent you 3 emails in the week leading up to your tour, reiterating this point very clearly. We recieved no response from you, and hence also tried to call and text you days in advance of your tour to clarify - again with no reaction from you. Our alcohol policy is due to restrictions in the alcohol license we have and for safety reasons. Our concept is about social sailing, but we never compromise on alcohol policy and safety. Best regards Joel

We had a wonderful 1:00 pm two hour boat tour with our tour guide/captain Sindre. His training in urban planning gave a unique perspective on the city, the waterways and local history. Our group was just four passengers so we could really communicate with him about the tour. A highlife was getting off the boat at the old fort. It was also fun when going under bridges we had to move to the bow of the boat to keep the boat low enough to get under.

Daylight is short in November so the early afternoon tour was perfect. The two hours went very fast. We were dressed warmly.
Highly recommend this tour

Stumbled across Hey Captain at Ofelia Plads and enjoyed a lovely hour cruise with a few other families, captained by the very cheerful and informative Christian.

A lovely way to appreciate the waterways, green spaces and architecture of Copenhagen. The boat is small and cosy, and can speed along. Christian had a great style, sharing Copenhagen with us like a local, rather than just listing the main sights. It was a relaxing and enjoyable trip, thanks so much!

I thought it was good value. We were even invited to share the sun cream which was very useful. Absolutely recommend, and also starting out at Ofelia Plads, a different relaxed and enjoyable world to the overcrowded main boat point at the start of Nyhavn. Departures were frequent, and there were a shady spot with tables and chairs to wait at which was welcome. Thank you!

What a lovely way to see the city,in fact this one-hour boat tour was one of the nicest things I did in Copenhagen. What makes this boat trip special is that it's a very small group and we all sat comfortably around chatting and interacting with our friendly, knowledgable captain Olivia while taking in some interesting and beautiful sights.Don't miss it !!

We enjoyed the trip, but I felt the balance between guest introductions/Q&A vs. information learned about Copenhagen was weighted too much toward the former. Our guide is from Sweden and wasn't able to answer some of the questions guests had about Copenhagen. He spent a lot of time at the beginning of the trip introducing himself, getting intros from all of the guests, asking follow-up questions, etc., all while we drifted by different sights, buildings, neighborhoods with little commentary about what we were seeing. I understood going in to the trip that this was a social cruise, but somehow I'd imagined the conversation would be woven more naturally and skillfully into other information about the city. In the end, I wanted to have learned more about Copenhagen than about the background of each guest on our tour.

We loved it so much that we came back the next day! Our captain Niis was wonderful! It was so great to hang out with him on the water and learn about this amazing city from a locals perspective. We learned so much about Copenhagen… not only the history, but also great recommendations for restaurants, activities, etc. Our fellow passengers were laid-back, fun and we felt like we were hanging out with friends enjoying the sunshine and a few beers! A great experience… highly recommend and will most definitely return to Copenhagen and the Hey Captain team!

Highlight if our weekend. Captain was funny approachable and made everyone at ease. Learned interesting facts as well as wonderful way to see the city. My 12 yr old son got to steer the boat - it made his day and memory of Copenhagen unforgettable.
