This is a review of Møns Museum, located inside Stege itself on the main street by the tower and similar to the picture. I visited again in the early summer of 2024, where in the building behind the museum itself there is a special exhibition about the escape of Danish Jews from Møn in October 1943. The exhibition tells stories about the people who helped with the escape and about the escape routes. There is also a 10-minute video in which one of the researchers behind the exhibition and a descendant of one of the resistance fighters very excitingly talks about a dramatic escape. The museum garden a few kilometers southeast of Stege is also worth a visit, perhaps especially on one of the activity days.

Stege is a small town of 4000 people and has it own museum. I visited this museum as I had family who emigrated from this area to New Zealand. Since my last visit 10 years ago, the museum has been hauled into the 20th century. It is light, airy and well laid out. It also has a small archive attached - open 1 day a week (Thu), staffed mainly by volunteers, and overseen by an archivist who visits for that day. They were very helpful, spoke wonderful English. One of the local experts went home, and did some searching in his private collection, and gave the results to me the following day. I had my packed lunch in the warm courtyard. There are steps - not high, and cobblestones. A good museum, made great by it helpful staff.
