Great play area for kids
Aug 2020 • Family
Beautiful architecture, cool library with playing areas inside and outside for the kids. The parking below the building is also very cool and high tech working only with lifts :)

Interesting building - worth visiting
Mar 2020
The city library and an interesting parking system. The architecture (interior and exterior)of the building is special as well as the facilities. It will be fine that every city has a similar library. The parking is automatic, which is interesting to see as engineering performance

Cool place even if you’re not there to use the library. Great views. Lots of great play equipment around the outside. Wish the coffee shop was open longer hours.

Free ‘must-see’ attraction - for adults & children!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - Whether you want to visit the amazing playground with your children, read newspapers, magazines or books, visit the café or simply enjoy the views across the harbour seated indoors or outside - there's always something new to experience in DOKK1, Aarhus' main library, citizens' services - and a whole lot more. Many students meet up to study in the spacious building, and also mothers' and fathers' groups meet up here with their babies on a regular basis.
Before you visit, it's well worth checking out the programme (also partly in English).

Best library ever
Nov 2019 • Friends
If all libraries were like this one then kids would be engaged in their learning. Just my humble opinion but the UK could take a lot of tips from this place, rather than closing libraries down!!! It is an engaging environment, great use of technology, makes learning fun. Also a really cool place to just visit, take in the views or grab a coffee.

Nice modern place. Usually go there just for library or sometimes for dance events outside the building. Very good view and big spaces.

Modern library by the harbour
Oct 2019 • Friends
The building is an architectural sight to behold by itself, with a number of playgrounds that are artistically done up on the 1st level. The interior is modern and tastefully designed, giving the visitors pleasant surprises when walking around the compound. The 1st level also gives an amazing view of the waterfront and beyond into the far horizon. Highly recommend to visit.

Imagine Being Exhilarated by a Library
Sep 2019 • Couples
DOKK1 was a wonderful experience! Rarely am I so moved by a library...here in Aarhus, the Dokk1 is not only beautiful, it is sustainable and accommodating for a broad spectrum of users. The ceiling to floor glass, protected with automatic shades, brings the historic and industrial buildings into the library space. I saw Moms with their children, seniors in wheel chairs, students, business people all enjoying the meeting rooms, research space, quite reading areas, and a terrific cafe. I loved reading that the Dokk1 uses a robotic book retrieval and delivery system and heats and cools using sea water. There are wonderful otdoor play spaces for children on the second level. There is a parking garage under the building and trams and buses run immed6beside the building. This space is truly exhilarating and I was so happy to have been able to experience it!
