A great place to visit in Aarhus, the rooftop views are amazing. The interior design of the building very cool. The art collection is awesome. Definitely recommended.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 10, 2023
- E FWiltshire, United Kingdom7 contributionsA ‘must see’ in AarhusAmazing place. Spent a couple of hours here but felt I’d only scratched the surface. Could easily go back and again and again. Particularly enjoyed ‘A Surreal Shock’, the 5m tall boy and, of course, the rainbow panorama.Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 15, 2023
- LauraBath, United Kingdom299 contributionsMixed thoughtsWe loved the rainbow walkway, the staff were really friendly and we also had nice food in the cafe. Tickets are quite expensive and some of the exhibitions aren’t really suitable for young children. For example there were two life size models with axes, knives and other weapons stuck in them.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 25, 2023
- Josie B3 contributionsWorth a visit in AarhusWe loved our visit from start to finish and appreciated being able to leave and come back which we did. There was a bit of everything for everyone and recommend spending most of your day here. The only criticism I have is that there were no period products when I would’ve needed them. The nearest place to get some was a good 15-20mins walk away.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 25, 2023
- SFPriorHigh Wycombe, United Kingdom898 contributionsFantastic time spent here!Really enjoyed my time wandering around Aros. The top floor is the rainbow area and on a blue sky day was great. The other floors have some permanent exhibitions and some temporary ones. The Boy and The Baby are extraordinary and I couldn’t believe it when I stumbled across Warhol’s set of Marilyn Monroe pictures. The ground floor is more immersive art. Gift shop lovely and also the food in the cafe and restaurants.Visited March 2024Traveled soloWritten March 6, 2024
- Sofia P8 contributionsCannot miss it!A definite must do if you’re visiting Aarhus! The museum has many very well curated exhibitions portraying art of various forms and origins, though mainly Danish. The Rainbow Panorama was unfortunately closed but I guess it means I’ll have to come back again some other time!Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 28, 2024

I am very fond of ARoS - for such a 'small' city this museum has impressed me with their at times unique and exciting exhibitions. Especially their sex/porn exhibition last fall was great and thought-provoking.
BUT: The exhibitions do not change often enough. This is not a problem for tourists, but as I live here I do not see the point of visiting ARoS more often than... twice a year. Their temporary exhibitions are there for months and months on end. Of course, you could easily argue that two amazing exhbitions a year are better than 12 mediocre installations a year.

The museum was great and very interesting.
Unfortunately our experience was spoiled it, when we returned the parking place,we got a "kontrolagift" , although the parking ticket was in the car and we paid for it continously by card while we were in the museum. We have paid the penalty to the company because it was a rented car and wrote letters to the ParkZone company, but we did not get answer yet, so I do not suggest to every foreigner to park at that place because it seemed to be malicious .

We went to ARoS museum during a daytrip in Aarhus. The museum is very good organized and has very friendly staff. We spent a couple of hours in the exhibition, had tasty lunch and enjoyed some ice cream on the roof after walking the rainbow.

We decided to visit Aros since we saw so many beautiful photos of this rainbow and we heard a lot about the architecture of this building. The experience was amazing the architecture of the building unforgettable, the view astonishing and of course as an art museum its really different and very big. It took us a couple of ours to visit the whole building since it has 8 floors. I recommend you a visit it worths.

Quite a boring exhibition throughout all 8+ floors. The exceptions being the old paintings from 19th century. The rest of the exhibition - piles of wood, homeless people’s signs, setup showing a gay nightclub, the rainbow panorama, “art movies”, etc, were quite uninteresting if not completely boring.
Went to buy some cake and drinks for the kids. The price in the cafeteria does not improve the quality of the carrot cake - 2 slices of cake, 2 Elderflower juices and a bottle of water came to 170kr. What a rip off!
In these times of covid-19 it is amazing to see the amount of people admitted.

An Art Museum with high international standard. Just to see “Boy” by Ron Mueck was worth the ticket alone.
Stunning view over Århus from the Your Walk Rainbow Panorama. The circular skywalk is an art installation itself made by Ólafur Elíasson. I love his works!
By the entrance there’s a shop, coffee house and restaurant.
ARoS is a must if you’re in Århus

It's so refreshing to find an art museum that is constantly trying to build on its collection. I haven't been to a place like this. The sheer spectrum of art from all over the world, different time periods, styles and ideas is astonishing. In addition, the fact that the museum has artists inside with their own workspace that you can talk to is wonderful. A brilliant encouragement for new coming artists in the world. A place you will never be bored, that's for sure.

Other than the construction of the structure, and the circular top floor, there is nothing noteworthy about this art museum. There is hardly any "art" on display on any of the floors. One enters on the fourth floor of this structure, and are greeted by a mob of people just staring at those who enter......very strange, and it gave me the feeling of being in "The Twilight Zone". The restaurant is lackluster (except for the hard-working employees), and you'll be fortunate if you can find a place to sit and eat as all the chairs and tables are occupied by old people just sitting and watching all the customers. In my opinion, anyone who considers this place great has never been in a real museum, or viewed real art on display......this cannot be noted in the same breath as the museums of Paris. Quite boring and certainly overrated.

The current art exhibition is very good with many paintings. The museum itself in an architectural gem with the possibilty of surveying the city skyline through various different coloured lenses from the roof top. The museum can only get better and better as more collections find their way to Jutland.

Love, love, love ARoS!! Take your time to see it all! Exhibitions are well-curated and the many different points of entry to the art leave long-lasting impressions. You get sucked in and don't want to leave. And when you have left you just want to come back again...

Hi, the entrance fee is 130 dkr, and the opening hours is 9-17 the 13th and 9-22 the 14th. Its national holiday and the the exhibition Monet - Lost in Translation is just opened so we expect a lot of visitors. If you want to avoid "rush hours" we advice that you visit us Wednesday evening. You should schedule at least a couple of hours for your visit.
