The good news is that there is a cash machine (ATM) and there is no problem getting cash.

I'm not sure about the taxi situation, but I do know there is a public bus that runs the length of the island regularly. I'm not sure if that was only seasonal (I was there in early September 2017) but it was on time, clean... More
