For 1.50 € per person you get sunbed and umbrella. You can eat well, too. All clear. On weekends possibly crowded due to tourists from neighboring countries. Neighboring beach with loud music - can be annoying. Locker room and shower available. Also ramp into the water for disabled people. Lifeguard ensures safety.

This beach near Alexandroupoli is managed by the official tourist organisation (EOT) and during high season an entrance fee applies.

It offers though changing rooms, showers, a snack bar and beach loungers and some other places for activity like beach volleyball and a children’s playground.

Also, a life guard (at peak hours) is available and a wheelchair ramp into the sea.

The sea floor at this location is mainly sandy and for quite some distance you’ll find shallow water which makes it attractive for non-swimmers. Nevertheless, you always have to be prudent.

If waves or stronger winds prevail (or if it rained before) the sandy sea floor will be swirled up which may lead to the impression that the sea water is dirty.

Also, during Meltemi time (strong winds occurring between June and Aug) waste may also drift here, which is annoying but the EOT management tries to remove it.

It took me about 30 minutes at a very leisurely pace along the coast to walk from the town center around the harbour to this beach, run by EOT (Ellinikos Organismos Tourismou), the national Greek tourism organization. The quite long beach lies to the west of Alexandroupolis.

First one comes to a not organized area with just one cubicle to change clothes. The beach itself is a mixture of sand and small pebbles. What surprised me was the big amount of mussel shells I saw.

Towards the middle of the beach are deck chairs and parasols and behind it the restaurant 'Charama'. All in all the area made quite a clean impression. It is good that Alexandroupoli has such a beach close by, although it is not the kind of beach I would come to spend my holidays.

This beach is next to the city of Alexandroupolis, and is well organised. BUT the beach and the sea is too dirty fo swimming. You must avoid this beach.
