Modern with many interesting artifacts
Aug 2019 • Couples
The museum had a surprisingly big variety of artifacts presented in a modern and comprehensive way. Nice architecture of the place, helpful and informative personal at the premises. It has to demonstrate many of the most ancient artifacts discovered in Greece dating from 60000 years ago and covers all the history of Thessaly up till after the ending of ottoman occupation. It's still lacking the details though that can lift it to the level of similar more known museums such as an audio guide, gift shop and a book of the museum itself which we were informed from the employees that is on their plans since the museum is relatively new. Overall definitely worth the visit if you find yourself in Larisa .

A couple of kilometres outside the city centre and well worth the (low) taxi fare. Very friendly staff — one of them drove me back into the centre of town. Highly recommended for history enthusiasts.

Excellent museum that shows the city's history throughout the years. Very interesting exhibits, you also get the opportunity to touch some of them, as they are accessible to blind people. Definitely worth the visit.

New archaeological museum
May 2017 • Couples
Diachronic Museum of Larissa is the new archaeological museum of Larisa, dedicated to the history of Thessaly region. The museum is located in the new part of the city and the better way to get there is a taxi or a friend with a car. The museum is in walking distance if you are in the area where Saturday open market is organized each week, on the Dim. Karaoli Street: get behind you Galaxias supermarket and the market itself and at the first major junction turn left and after 10 min or so you will see a small hill with pine trees on top of which is the museum.
The museum is organized in a new and modern building. The manner in which the exhibits are displayed as well as some modern devices for emphasizing some specific characteristics of items make very easy to follow and to understand what it is in front of your eyes.
The opening hours are 8am to 8pm daily – not sure about Monday, probably closed. The admission fee is 4 euro for adults. We were allowed to take pictures in exhibition areas. It is to be mentioned the friendly staff that is ready to answer to your questions and to offer more information about the exhibits and historical context.
The museum offers the opportunity to spend couple of hours in a very educative way.

One of the best history museums im the world
May 2017 • Friends
Now that was amazing! All of the displayed items were nicely arranged with very informative signs. The most impressive part was the Paleolithic and Neolithic finds from the region of Thessaly! Simply stunning! And to think everywhere else in Europe they would charge 15 euros to visit some ruins of some Roman baths, the fee was just the symbolic amount of 4. There was a lecture held on site which we were welcome to attend and the staff were so friendly with us and ready to answer every question! An absolutely beautiful experience!
