This was a disappointment because the city is historically very important and there are only many cafes, bars, food and a monument at the beginning of the city. The working hours of the store is terrible. Nothing works until 17:00, and on Wednesday I think...More

Nothing much to see, you go here just to pay homage to a king who sacrificed himself and his warrior to a bigger cause.

The Leonidas Monument was a nice attraction to visit as it provides the perfect Spartan photo opportunity! Have a local tell you the legend of King Leonidas and his army to make the experience more interesting, otherwise it might just feel like another statue. What...More

This image embodies all the power and the strength of the man. it is located a few streets out from the centre of modern Sparta which is built on top of the remains of the ancient city. There is no charge to see the monument.

Although the geography has changed substantially over the centuries since the battle, you can still imagine what it must have been like over 2 millennia ago to see so many soldiers on such a small spit of land. Good for a 20 minute drop-by visit.

If you go to Sparti, you have to go and have photos with Leonidas. Very accessible and easy to walk to from the centre.

Sadly the museum was closed for refurbishment but the statue on its own is impressive. Not sure if it’s worth a trip on its own though.

It is on the way to ancient Sparta, stop for a second and take some pictures. Observe that he does not have a spartan shield. There are Spartan shields on the stadium behind.
