This is a beautiful church - the biggest in Balkans. It is the place that Saint Andrew the apostle was martyred.

This imposing church was built to honor the patron saint of Patras, Saint Andrew (Agios Andreas in Greek). If you are visiting Patras in late November, then you should check out the festival (Protoklitia) dedicated to honor the memory of Saint Andrew. Finally, it is conveniently located at the end of Riga Ferraiou pedestrian walk, so a visit to this church can be combined with a tour at the local stores or a cup of coffee.

The light is al over the place. St Andrea's holy Relics and Cross are to the right and to the left respectively after you enter. You must visit the Church of San Andreas. The fresco is also unique and behind the Temple Panagia in big dimensions protects the the City of Patras. There is also a nice cafe outside the Church and very next to the big new Church there is the older one build in the place where a spring of natural holy water appeared after San Andrea death with crucifixion. If you come to Patra this place is a landmark!

This is the third biggest church in Balkan with relics of Saint Andrew. His X cross is actually preserved here. A top pilgrimage for Christians.

We made a quick stop here on our way back from Olympia. Very impressive building, looks much older than it actually is.
