The Ancient Mycenae is only 20 minutes from the beautiful Nafplio. Once you arrive, there is a big parking lot on the left hand side and there is a kiosk there selling cold drinks. I suggest you take a backpack with lots of bottles of water with you. Once you buy your tickets and enter the ancient site, you can... More

How could you visit the Peloponnese and not go to ancient Mycenae? It is of course just ruins but you can sense the history all around you and the view is spectacular. The modern museum has lots of interesting finds from the site.

The ancient site of Mycenea is a must when visiting Greece. Situated between the Venetian city of Nafplio and Athens it makes for a wonderful stop and go visit. The site is very well preserved and also has a museam attached that add to the pleasures of the visit. While detached to this entire ancient encampment is the very tomb... More

Situated on a small hill, dominating surrounding fields of Argolis, this site bears a special energy that you can feel the minute you enter. It seems like a pyramid rising from the rocky hill concentrating millenia of history in one peak. Giant walls, breathtaking architecture, feeling of ancestrial presence as well as the huge respect for this craddle of european... More

Ancient Mycenae is one of the must-visit treasures of the local area. The impressive ruined citadel is built on a hill with stunning views in all directions and we loved exploring and taking photos. It costs €12 to get in which includes entry to the small but interesting museum, the opportunity to explore Mycenae, and entrance to the nearby Citadel... More

Mycenae vanished suddenly in 3 centuries. It lasted 16th to 13th centuries B.C. How? Look at the West and one can deduce how Mycenae vanished. The ancient Greeks were great in real estate. They picked the best locations for their cities. Mycenae’s setting is almost as impressive as the Parthenon. It was built on a plateau between two mountains. The... More

The ruins here are very interesting and well worth taking the time to see, but if you are at all able, you must walk all the way to the top. The views are spectacular and you will not be disappointed. Sturdy shoes are a must; avoid flip flops. Best to bring a water bottle, and some sunscreen would not be... More

Went in evening when the day had been too hot. Hired Maria from Alma Rent a Car and she was very helpful and informative. Hardly anyone there at that time so it was a peaceful experience. Not enough words to describe how impressive the place is. Maria made sure we kept our tickets for the tomb of Atreus. I have... More

The place stays open late - take advantage of this - as it is best to see in the late afternoon sun , after the crowds have left and the beauty of the place stands out - wonderful ancient place , full of mystery and awe. Stunning culture - a privilege to visit.
