this museum is next to lake stymfalia and presents the history of the region and people staying there. there are some video presentations and nice exhibitions. there are also binoculars tha you can watch the lake or birds flying around. the museum is nice but i think the entrance ( 4 euros ) could be lower as the museum has very few exhibits

The pre-history and history of what used to be a vast lake with so much water as even Romas irrigated it featured in a very well organized modern museum with space and videos plus an amazing view of the plateau and the surrounding mountains. Another excellent museum of the Bank of Piraeus Foundation.

Well made Museum in beautiful area of Stymfalia!
Jun 2017 • Couples
Up in the mountains, in the middle of nowhere...almost...one comes to the village of Stymfalia, and, then down the road, to the Environment Museum which stands on a hill, overlooking the wetland of Stymfalia. They have done a very good job and it is really worth a visit as it explains alot of the geological history of the area.
Having visited the Museum, I have two recommendations!!
- Buy yourself some delicious honey ( also with honeycomb available) from the first house of Stymfalia village- as you enter by car, on your left side.
- Take the road to Xylokastro over the mountains and not direct to Kiato. The scenery is stunning....green valleys and beautiful nature.

A really small and nice museum to visit if someone is near Stymphalia.

There is also audio support for many items and the museum is well organized

An excellent museum in a beautiful landscape

Stymphalia Environment Museum is definitely something you don't expect to meet in this place. The work that the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation has done here is really exceptional.
The coexistence of the concrete, steal and wood of the museum with the tranquility of the surrounding environment is outstanding and the museum finally manages to bring out the unique characteristics of the Lake's landscape!

An amazing museum right next to Stymphalia village. Even though it might look small, there are a lot of things to see. So take your time and go through the info charts on each exhibit and do not forget to watch all the very informative videos. The observatory is an amazing place and the view to the lake fantastic (even if the lake did not have much water at the time we visited it).

Naturally surrounded by nature!

A bit away from the big cities and because of it in the middle of a natural habitat this museum is a perfect choice for a weekend.Particularly recommended for children allowing them to discover a way of life most of the time forgotten in the city.

Small but very well put together

The museum building itself is very sympathetic to the landscape and gives fascinating insight into how the landscape was formed, about the local nature and wildlife, and about the people and their working lives.

There were some interesting audio visual presentations (in English as well as Greek) and there's a viewing platform with great views over Lake Symphalia. They provide spotting scopes and we saw a couple of birds of prey while we were out there.

There is a small café selling drinks and snacks as well as a few souvenirs and gifts. It cost €6 to get in which I thought was good value for money.

There is ample free parking at the site.

First you need to take a look at the architecture of the museum and how the building is perfectly matched in the environment. Then take a look at the small but great exhibition where you can learn a lot about the live in and around the lake. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
