For a great mountain trail, starting from Potamia, you take the well marked road that reaches the summit of Thasos island. Overall, you can do this in the day at noon, most of the trail is in the shade of the trees going all the...More

If you are looking for a great ``promenade`` this is the one! Easy to find, nice uphill/downhill walk. Almost three hours up and two and a half down. Need to have good shoes, 2-3 liters of water and at least one companion. After lots of...More

I was visiting Thassos, one of the completely underrated Greek islands, full of green and fresh air, and while I was looking for hiking/running trails I stumbled upon mount Ipsarion. Unfortunately, like most of the Greece, there is little to no information on how to...More

We hiked up mount Ipsario from Potamia. From Skala Potamia you can take the bus to Potamia and then proceed to walk, it is pretty easy to follow the path. However, the hike is pretty strenuous, especially if you're not that experienced. We were only...More

There is not much to see in Thassos and I admit that the 138 euros we paid to see a monastery, marble quary and Mount Ipsarion was wasted!

This is not for the faint hearted. It's a long way up and once you get going there's not any places to turn around. You pass lots of lovely places along the way and the views at the top are great. Buy some honey from...More

Been there by foot from Potamia. The track is well marked, frist with wooden signs, later with red marks on the rocks and trees. Great view from the top and amazing feeling, worth every step you make on those narrow goat tracks.

I was there with my family. I had rented off road car Suzuki Jimny for this trip. Very nice view from this place for whole Thasos island especially for Golden beach.

Hi Borislav, There is a well-marked trail; you do not need climbing equipment. I recommend: good boots, extra clothing, food/water Expect 5 hours round trip
