Even though a guidebook to ancient Thasos is available, it is not sold on the island and there are no explanations on site of the buildings in the ancient agora. It is a great shame as this ancient site deserves better.

In ancient Greece it was known as “The Athens of the North”. Limenas is the modern day capital of the island as it was in ancient times, a fact that becomes evident when you explore the town, as around every corner you come face to...More

It was awesome, there are a lot of things to see. Too bad it is not very well cared. There are big bushes, and you cannot see the whole ground because of this.

So much to see, so little help to understand it. Never seen so many sites in such as small area. Though this is perhaps the most important there must be 15 others within a 10 minute walk. We saw one remaining explanatory notice board, which...More

Like every other ancient site around Thasos town, the agora is overgrown - the weeds were as tall as me in places! It looks like the locals take a weed-whacker to the sites in time for the main holiday season, but unfortunately at this time...More

So nice to be able to wonder around a historic sight with no crowds and no signs telling you what it might have been like. In conjunction with the lovely museum next door, this is just a great way to experience the ancient past.

Nice. Close to the center. No entry to pay. Nice walking tour. It takes you half an hour. Suitable for children and also for older people.

Not much to say, as there is not much to see. The picture already tells everything. But at least it was free of charge.

Free entry to wander around at your own pace. It would be great to be able to buy some guide books about this and other sights on Thassos, but we couldn't find anything while we were there. Not for the less mobile, but even so...More
