We did the #1 tour our first day and found it to be a good way to start. We saw and tasted many things., learned quite a bit of history. Try to avoid a meal beforehand, we had just had breakfast and would have been better off to be hungry. Nice, knowledgeable guide. Well priced tour.

My 19 year old niece and I had a wonderful time with Despina ! She was knowledgeable and gracious on our tour..she stuffed us full and was helpful with advice when we wanted to buy something. We recommend this tour on the first day of your trip as she also gives excellent advice on what else to see.

We had our wonderful tour guide Despina all to ourselves. She was so knowledgeable about the region and her passion was contagious. She had us captivated from beginning till the end . Our concern about doing the tour with our 9 and 5 year old boys was unfounded. She made it interesting for them and included them in the whole... More

I organized "Route 1" for in a group of 16 people. The communication upfront was very good. Everything worked as planned. Esmeralda and Despina are two knowledgeable guides which combine profound historic knowledge with the culinary highlights of the region. Their city tours are something different, nothing off-the-shelf, very individual, very interesting and delicious. Thank you for this new experience.... More

If you ever harboured any doubts about greek food banish them now. Despina from Food and Eat Thessalonika took us on the most amazing day tour of markets, food shops and cafes in Thessalonika. Herbs, tea, spoon fruits (omg walnut spoonfruit!) cheeses, spiced dried meat (jerky on a new level), ouzo, fish... All so good. And Despina is an absolute... More

What a perfect journey through the culinary history of Thessaloniki this tour provides. Meet Smeragda (Esmeralda) and Despina in the cooking studio, for real Greek coffee (have your fortune told!) and a breakfast of traditional bread (Koulouri) and pastries (Bougatsa, with either sweet or savoury fillings). Start to understand the incredible multi-layered history of the city from a slide-show, which... More

We were very recently visiting Thessaloniki with our dear friends from the U.S. This was their very first visit, for us the second visit - we practically passed through Thessaloniki the first time, several years ago, visiting very little and on our way to our vacation place. Upon very high recommendations from my friend, we decided to book this food... More

Despina was a great host from the moment we entered her lab/teaching kitchen for coffee and pastries to the delicious traditional gyros and ouzo lunch at a local café. We learned so much about the area, the history, the traditions and influences on the local food and how it became more widely accepted and available throughout the world. As we... More

The tour is an excellent way to see a chunk of the old town while sampling a range of local delicacies. This is particularly true if you are only visiting for a day or two and want to see as much as possible. We walked Route 3, which finishes with a wonderful lunch sampling various dishes. One word of warning... More
