This is the third Greek archeology museum I've visited (along with those in Athens and Patras) and it was the one with the best experience. While the collection seems smaller than the one it Athens, this is in fact an advantage as it is easier to comprehend and the whole visit feels like being on an epic journey through the... More

Fantastic museum with different parts. The Greek historical part on the region is very good, but I liked especially the part about the Gold. Very beautiful exhibits. Whole museum is excellently labelled in Greek but also in English. Quality of presentation (lightening etc) very high. Been second time and would highly recommend.

Finding time to drag yourself away from all the other wonderful attractions Thessaloniki has to offer is not easy, but this museum is worth it. These themes guide the visitor on an epic journey back through the history of the region... More

One of the most important museums with art from Byzantium period. Amazing building, great treasures. Defo a must for everyone, even worth to visit the city just to see this museum.

One big golden treasury with the amazing collection of the prehistoric Macedonia, the late antiquity and the golden era. A daylong visit to enjoy all the beautiful items is a must without any stress. The opening hours are generous 8-20, so one can enjoy strolling around the museum.

Loved my time in the museum. Great staff and some fantastic pieces. All information was printed in Greek and English. Worth spending a few hours here.

The museum has to show a vast permanent collection that travels the visitor back from the prehistoric period to the late Hellenistic and Roman era. One of the must-visit of the city.

Straight forward chronological presentation with only a few exhibits from the Macedonian tombs. However the artifacts are plenty and offer a glimpse of the glorious past of the city. Do take kids with you since there are plenty of multimedia games and activities. Also many short and informative videos.

There wasn't much at the museum, and a lot of security. The Derveni Papyrus wasn't as interesting as I expected. A let down.
