Very good overview of northern Greece, exhibits are well presented. A simple walk through of early history covering the beginning of man in Greece and a emphasis on treasures that have been found in the region

The Macedonian gold exhibited here is simply to die for. It's almost like visiting an ancient jewelry store. I really enjoy visiting this museum.

Enjoyed this small two story museum for the 8euros paid to walk through. While it doesn’t compare to other museums, it is a nice collection the represents the area. Thessaloniki is a walking city that has small ruins all over the place. Personally I enjoyed...More

Some great history is told here in all forms. It only takes a couple of hours to visit and well worth it.

Not as exciting as expected from what it tells to be. Apart from a couple of well preserved objects it’s just not an interesting place. The building that houses the museum itself, says it all ! Rather uninteresting, and you can see far better collections...More

This museum seemed to me to be a combination of the museums of Vergina, Pella and Dion minus the archaeological sites. There was so much to see we spent 3hrs here and it still did not seem to be enough time. Highlights of my visit...More

In not historically famed Thessaloniki, it's a surprise to visit the archaeological museum. It's divided in two parts: the fist is the "normal" museum, which depict in a clear and interesting way the millennia-long history of Greece, with details of the economical realities and of...More

The Gold of Macedonia exhibit was impressive and I enjoyed the historic overview too. Only one security staff in each section so I felt free to read, wander and ponder among the exhibits.
