Very good museum and extremely cheap (too cheap?). The building itself is also interesting. We were surprised by the lack of other visitors...

This is a marvellous place. It is well laid out and we saw things we had never seen before. The graves were reminiscent of Egyptian tombs but complete units. The paintings in them are beautiful. The rooms are large and spacious and move from period to period of the Byzantine period. A must see in this city.

Such a joy this museum. Beautifully designed and user friendly, it contains one of Europes best collections of Orthodox Ikons.

I haven't been to a Byzantine museum before, but thoroughly enjoyed my visit here: the architectural, historical and artistic objects and text give a great overview of the Byzantine history and culture. There is also a ticket deal if you buy it together with a ticket to the Archaeological Museum.

I have often had difficulty organizing my visit to a museum, not being sure how to go around a room or which room to visit first. In the cas of this museum, the organizing was done for me by the way the whole exhibition was arranged. The sequence from one room to the next was very logical and within each... More

Walk through the museum, savor the history and feel the ancient relics and culture of the early church and beginnings of Christianity. No flash photography allowed. It's indeed lovely to see the ancient relics and all.

Nice museum with beautifull icons, paintings and a lot off other art effects. The history is clearly explained when you walk from the one room to the other. I really enjoyed the visit and at the end the coffee in the restaurant.
