Well displayed and organised with a clear narrative to tell the story of the region and its inhabitants. There are some excellent pottery pieces, tombs and an absolutely fabulous collection of icons embellished with gold leaf. Tip: buy a tickets that enables access to other museums as well as this.

The building has a strong character matching its contents. Filled with natural light from its atriums and loads of good museological design, it covers all aspects and periods of the Byzantine period and beyond. Dark, imposing arrangements transfer the feeling of an untold cultural wealth. Adorned with an excellent cafe and retail of precious but clever gifts. No visit to... More

A very well laid out museum of Byzantine culture with a very comprehensive collection of artefacts, tableaux and icons; the descriptions of the artefacts and items are in English and well written and informative. The museum restaurant, with table service, serves very good quality food and has a good selection of wines. Be aware that you might want to spend... More

The whole, spacious, exhibition is set out in a nice modern building close to the radio mast. There are 11 rooms to walk around. A great number of the exhibits are free-standing and not behind glass, and there are marble carved pillars and tombs as well as fabulous mosaics, early glass, ancient coins and best of all the icons. You... More
