This is a true gem - some of the BEST Byzantine frescos of Macedonian style (lighter than the typical Byzantine icons style, more naturalistic, with blues and greens) in the whole of Greece, I think; and it's in one of the loveliest locations in Thessaloniki

This little church is in the old part of town, so the place is quiet and one can really get the feel for the spiritual side of it. When i was visiting there was literally 2 people in the church and 5 locals sitting outside...More

The Church of Agios NIkolaos Orphanos is situated in Ano Poli (Upper Town) of Thessaloniki. It is a really small and cute building from architectural point of view. Loved the frescos. There is a small green yard. It is open in the mornings. Must visit!

A place so quiet, so beautifull and really very moving. Inside, the church is very simple and even if you are not religious, you'll be caught. Wonderfull !

This tiny church, divided for men and women, and with every wall covered with biblical frescoes, sits in a small garden with a large Linden tree (covered with fragrant blossoms in May). It felt like a special place.

Walking up Apostolou Pavlou Street you will head towards the church of Agios Nikolaos Orfanos. Its entrance is from Irodotou Street. The church was built the 14th century and it was part of a monastery. A big part of the mosaics survived through the centuries...More

It's located in upperside of the city. You can take a stroll at the backyard and enjoy the great view of Thessaloniki.

A unique monument of thessaloniki that gives a strong feeling of the orthodox culture by the buzantine and ottoman period. It is suggested to go for walk on foot as it is situated in the old town of thessaloniki.

Some of the worlds most significant frescos made by famous Byzantine painter. Feel the spiritual atmosphere or just enjoy the art of 14th century.
