There are lots of churches in Thessaloniki and we visited many of them on our self guided walking tour of Thessaloniki.
This is one of the churches which is worth visiting. Unfortunately it was not open when when we were there so we didn't get inside, and could only see the outside.

A lovely Byzantine style church in the city centre. Entry is free, of course, as in all churches in Greece. Quite well decorated with icons and wall paintings. Most importantly it holds the relics of Agios Grigorios Palamas, after whom it is named. Palamas was a monk and later archbishop of Thessaloniki. He was a very strong defender of the Orthodox faith. He was made a saint after his death. The church is on a site which dates back to the 13th century, but the building has undergone several reconstructions following times of damage etc. Worth a visit.

Beautiful church in the middle of the city, surrounded by other attractions, and very near to Agia Sofia. It was fantastic roaming the streets and find such spectacular buildings and churches like this one.
