This one of the only sandy beaches on the island although the sand is man-made. Situated 5kms south of Gaios it used to be an islet and is connected by a small, narrow bridge with the road to the bridge and parking located at the back of the beach. The views of the bay from the top of the hill are stunning. The beach is quite small and the sea bed shelves gently with very calm water so is safe and ideal for small children. The trees on the beach offer some shade and there is a taverna from which you can order food and drinks. The sunbeds to the right (looking out from the beach to sea) in front of the boat moorings are very quiet and you can watch the the yachts and small boats come in and moor up (some more successfully than others). There are better beaches on the island for swimming where the clarity of the water is significantly better.

My favourite place on the island. Beautiful bay which is also home to my favourite bar/restaurant - Carnayo Gold - where Dimitri rules! He's the perfect host. See my separate review of his taverna. Mongonissi has a man-made (apparently) fine sand beach - very narrow but enough to lie out on in the sun. There is also another bigger taverna above the beach. Many yachts use Mongonissi as their safe mooring for the night so it can get quite crowded in season.

A small stretch of sandy beach reached by driving over a causeway from Paxos . The water was calm and inviting we had a subbed practically in the sea and stayed swimming until 7pm . Pan and Theo’s taverna was great too , can recommend the grilled prawns and souvlaki !

The beach is real ( imported) sand,it wasn't busy with boats when we were there . The sun beds were €5 for 2 I think.there are two tavernas and both were popular.

Mongonisi beach is great if you like sand. However there is quite a lot of seaweed and it is never relaxing due to the continual stream of boats coming and going. It is however great for watching the antics of the flotilla yachts trying to moor up as they arrive in convoy. Some of the sailors managed it without incident, others were going around in circles. We watched for an hour as two young men in inflatables tried to nudge the wayward yachts into place along the harbour wall. Great entertainment later in the afternoon. There are two Tavernas on the beach for food and drink, with friendly staff.
