We saw this place sitting in a kayak, and it is truly amazing to be able to paddle all the way in to the hidden parts, where only a kayak can go (if you duck down low enough).

We took a boat tour from Nydri. Our boat made a short stop, by the Papanikolis cave. We did not enter the cave, because it was windy with a lot of waves that day. They also did not let us swim there. They just stopped...More

You can only get here by boat. It is impressive, but not the only thing to see when on cruise. The interesting thing is the story about this Cave. The name came from the submarine that was underneath the water in WWII and that struck...More

This cave is very interesting, being formed at the contact with the water sea. I have visited only the entrance during a cruise into the Ionian Sea, but the history related with the cave is exciting.

Went into the cave as part of the "Island hopping" tour. Jumped into the water from the boat and was surprised how clear and warm it was.

Went on self hire small boat; cave is big and deep enough to sail into. Maybe I've seen too many caves and 'blue lagoons', so this one was not spectacular, no stalagmites or stalactites, clear water with fish in it no different from other rocky...More

Part of a daily crusie from Lefkada, Papanikolis' cave played a critical role for Greece during WWII. A famous submarine was hiding there during the war to evade enemy radars and the locals were supplying the sailors during the night. Its always nice when a...More

Stunning safe swim into this cave is an ideal stop off during a sailing holiday in the Ionian Islands. Fabulous blue clear waters packed with fish. Best around 2.00pm to get the best sun light direction.
