Cute ans covey and not molested by ΑΞΙΟΠΟΙΗΣΗ
A composite of eateries, fine swimming opportunities and a protected water inlet in essence in the SE of the island- actually the most interesting with the western cliffs. Wight (Isle of~) and Lefkada have the same rare and 'commensurate' in alliterative terms names. The Mikrow Gialos retails what all other equivalent beaches + have not retained "This is not the end, it is not even the beginning of the end, but it is perhaps the end of the beginning."

    Crazy busy
Very busy in high season! Had to park in a taverna’ car park and so chose to eat there for convenience. The staff were busy and as a solo diner I was largely ignored. Food was ok. Nothing special. The beach was full and apart from a quick stroll there I decided to leave rather than try to find a single sun bed of shady spot to sit. I appreciate that this is high season but as as solo traveller am finding more and more that the expectations is that everything comes/costs in pairs which is off putting.

very big rocks, not suitable for families with young children
Quite big beach with clear waters. It has big rocks and you will need special sea shoes so as to walk easier. I think it is risky for families with young children, I was anxious each time my kid was diving. The parking is free. There are two bars with sun beds that cost 10 euros the pair. The food there is the typical one that is served in beaches eg club sandwich, burgers, Greek salad, souvlaki.

Before starting my review, I'd like to note "Poros Beach" and "Mikros Gialos" are the same beach!!.... Poros is the village "hidden" in the hill above the beach BTW, and you'll pass it (on your left before heading down). If you're into pics (see the one enclosed), be sure to continue on towards the church on top of the hill in Poros (it will appear right above you straight ahead "crowning" the village) before you start heading down to the beach. Park the car outside the church, go through the gate (it's never been locked) and walk towards the back of it (where the belfry is located). Here you'll be stunned by the most beautiful panoramic view of Mikros Gialos/Poros beach (see pics).

Now about the beach: Getting there is pretty simple. Just follow the main Lefkada-Nidri road on the East Coast, past Nidri, continue past Vlicho Bay, then Follow signs to Vassiliki (cutting to the right at the end of Vlicho and heading uphill)... Continue on the main road straight ahead (all the while enjoying the BREATHTAKING panoramic of the valleys bellow) until you see signs for Poros or "Mikros Gialos" beach on the left. This will be right off the main (well paved road) and is hard to miss. If you get to "Sivota", you've gone too far.... But this shouldn't be a problem as most maps show Poros village very clearly.

The beach is ALWAYS calm as it rests off a long bay, and is often studded w/sail boats and/or yachts. We love going there esp. when it's a windy day, and the more popular beaches on the West Coast (Kathisma,Pefkoulia etc..) are wavy and windy. Beach Shoes are a must, however, as the pebbles here are plentiful :-).

I should also mention good snorkeling can found on the far right (as you face the water). You can follow the mountain there around the corner onto a lovely little beach (passing some small caves along the way on the right) for a rest before heading back for a bite at the taverns across the street!! Chairs/Umbrellas are available for lease as well (I believe we paid 6 or 8 Euros for the day for 2 chairs and umbrella) to complete the relaxation on this very nice beach.... See also "Amousa Beach" reviews for a smaller version of the same type of beach (but much less people and better snorkeling :)

Hope this helps!!

I have stayed in these 2 villas (James villas) 3 times now and I love it there very quiet and secluded each has its own pool and large gardens the beach and tavernas are a 2 minute walk down the rough road (darkish at night) and the supermarket about 5 minutes walk. The best taverna is the last one as you leave the beach on the left run by Chris and his family great food. If you need a large supermarket it is at the top of the hill by the main road A car is essential here but as I don't drive now I used a taxi from airport to villas (€70) each way. If you walk towards the San Nicholas hotel (turn right at the local supermarket) and there are 2 more tavernas both good the hotel has stunning views great at sunset no need to cook in your villas as the tavernas are so cheap €10/20 for mains including rose' (€5) half litre if you want complete peace and quiet these villas are for you. I went September 25 for 2 weeks and the weather was great (lucky) but places were closing second week but Chris's is the last to close The beach is pebbles but get comfy and all is well. Go enjoy x

The beach is small and the sea is clean and peaceful.ideal place for families with babies /children but very expensive I believe.the umbrella charge is 7 euros and 1 coffee costs 3 euros (or more).the restaurants are expensive too.you have to spend at least 50 euros for a normal dinner for 2 people.I would visit again this place only for the beach.

It is a really calm bay, unaffected by the wind in open sea. This makes it perfect for kayaking, boating, paddling, snorkeling, or any other water activity you may like.

Very clean, sheltered beach. It has an easy access, by the road is a bit steep and narrow. Parking is not sufficient and in season can be a bit of struggle to find. Beach is pebbly and after initial few meters, water gets deep very suddenly, so be on watch if visiting with small children. There are beach umbrellas and chairs to rent at 5 euros for two sun-chairs and an umbrella. These are a bit too close to each other, but one can still decide to put their own towels and chairs on public part of the beach. Local tavernas also deliver food and drinks to the beach. Surrounding nature is beutifull and little village of Poros is charming.

An ordinary beach, with big pebble / stones. You have to be with shoes when walking on the beach. Water is deep in few steps, and not so clear, no underwater life for schnorkeling. Nothing to remember there!
