Cruise to Kefalonia, Ithaca & the beaches around Lefkada

The cruise departs from Nidri, passing many bays and villages, including Vasiliki and sailing round the southern tip of Lefkas islnad, known as Sappho’s leap. The first stop is at the stunning bay of Porto Katsiki and the imposing Egremni beach. Your journey continues on to Fiskardo Kefalonia, a picturesque fishing village and the only one left standing following the catastrophic earthquake of 1953.
The next stop is on the island of Ithaki, believed to be the home of Odysseus. Here you can visit the museum, have lunch and perhaps another swim.
On the return journey the captain will take the baot inside the famous Papanikolis’ cave, where a submarine lay hidden during the 2nd World War.
The last part of the cruise takes you around island of Scorpios, otherwise known as the Onassis island. Here you will be told the history of the tragic family and there will be time for a last swim.
Return to Nidri passing the island of Madouri or Poet’s island.

I had a wanderfull memory from this beach from ten years ago and I tried to go again this summer (2020). The sea water rise has taken over the beach and it does not exist any more. Furthermore the road leading to the beach is very narrow and it is very difficult whent two cars meet from opposte directions. There is a canteen at the end near the place where the beach was. If you want to be alone you can visit the place.

We visited Kavalikefta+Megali Petra in afternoon hours in July. I immediatelly regreted, that we have not spent whole day for Kavalikefta and Megali Petra, because for me, they are one of most amazing beaches on Lefkada. This big rocks lying arround, some of them as big as small house, are relly something special, that you can not see on other beaches. Even the road downhill to the beaches, is one of the curviest and is nice experience by itself. Parking is a bit problem as on most beaches with steep background but anyway this two beaches sre definetly worth visiting.

The road here is a challenge plenty of twists and sharp turns, at one point directed off road for a short distance Beware of parking charges €5 to park all day €10 with beach umbrella. But the beach has more than one operator and there’s no segregated markers. So you could end up paying TWICE !!☹️for your loungers and umbrella ⛱ Refreshments available at the beach with bar and vending machines Beach made up of small to medium pebbles with a steep drop into the beautiful blue sea.😊

This beach ist super small füll with umbrellas and chairs you can rent.street to the beach is good but narrow. There are many parking spaces for 5€ the whole day.there is a small bar where you can have a drink or some snacks and food.we only went there for parking and then took the stairs down to the beach to the left side away from the rental umbrellas. You go through the rocks Like 5min and then you arrive at the wonderful Sandy beach megali petra.best beach on lefkada so far. We went there at 11am. You should not come later as many people came so the beach got pretty crowded. So we left at 2pm. We also should have come earlier.lucky that I could take some pics before all people arrived.
