A MUST visit if in Corfu!
Sep 2018 • Couples
I popped into this shop while I was waiting for the pick-up coach on the way to the airport and was absolutely gutted that I hadn't visited during my 2 week holiday!! I literally grabbed 3 bags to buy in the few minutes I had and was so glad the coach arrived late!! My husband deserted me and left the TUI rep to drag me out of the shop! This unique shop is situated on the main road of the Govino Bay/Helion Resort complexes and is fabulous offering a whole host of products with lots of styles, colours and choice. The quality is first class from the way the leather is cut, to the lining and zips, not to mention the perfect stitching! I spent a whole day looking at handbags in Corfu town and didn't find anything that compares with the products at this shop. The prices are so reasonable for the quality and uniqueness and the owner super skilled. I only regret not visiting sooner!

Qualety Made for you
Jul 2018 • Couples
We had 3 bags made to our wishes with the leather color we wished. Really proffesional guidance and fantastic work. Each was made the same day. We commented that it was fast and the answer was It is only a bag not an airplane
Prices really fine for the qualety

Beautiful hand crafted leather goods!
Jun 2018 • Friends
When in Corfu, don't miss a visit to Maska Leather. I did not need a new bag, but when I saw his work, I had to bring one home. My friend wanted a bag in a different color and the craftsman, Makis Sakalis made it the next day, so she could carry it home with her. His prices were also very reasonable for the quality products that he produces.

Works of art created with a heart!
Jul 2017 • Couples
I had a medium-sized purse custom made for me by Mr Sakalis in summer 2016. Beautiful work at a super reasonable price. I hate all mass-market products, which are often of a poor quality. This place is what we need.

The location, as discussed in other reviews, is not that easy to spot from a moving vehicle. Use the BP gas station across the main road as a landmark.

Top shop, top bloke, go and take a look!,
Sep 2017 • Family
Popped into Maska Leather and chatted to the master at work, Mattis. Lovely bloke, had a very chilled demeanour really puts you at ease. The workshop has two floors, wonderful smell of quality leathers, and hard work :). Hundreds of items already made, classic styles and bags, satchels, purses, wallets, sandals, belts and lots lots more. On trend styles and colours too. We saw a bag, asked if he had it in a different colour, said it can make it in any colours. We picked the style, picked two colours and picked up our handmade bag two days later, grabbed a couple handmade belts too. Brilliant place to browse and buy. Take some time out and take a look, you want be disappointed.

Just back from our holiday in Cofu. We stayed at Govino Bay Hotel/Apartments. We visited this Leather shop and was in awe at the items for sale here, We got talking to the owner Makis who told us he owned the shop and made the items here himself. I saw a bag I liked but was in white, he told me he could make it for me in a colour of my choice, So I chose what I wanted and he told me to come back in a couple of days. We did this and there it was all ready. It is beautiful. Then my partner asked if he every made tool rolls for motorcycles and he said yes. He ordered one and it was ready next day. It was amazing, just what he wanted. I also bought other items from Makis. He is a true gent and if anyone considers going to Corfu I would highly recommend a visit to his shop. He went above and beyond to make us what we wanted within a very short time scale. I would just like to thank Makis again for our bags etc. Please take time to visit his website too

Craftsmanship at its best
Jul 2016 • Friends
Maska Leather, situated in Govino Bay, Corfu, is well worth a visit. The proprietor, Makis Sakalis, is a true craftsman. He uses only the best quality materials and the standard of his workmanship is superb. Makis allows customers to freely wander around his delightful shop and there is no pressure to make a purchase. He will make any bag in the colour of your choice, and will complete the order on time. He also advises on the after-care of your bag.

Prices are very reasonable for such top quality products. We were delighted with our visit and are more than happy with our purchases.

Impressive shop; friendly owner
Jul 2015 • Couples
My wife and I rented a car from the cruise ship terminal and drove to Maska Leather based on these two reviews. Previous writers were correct. Makis is a true craftsman. His leather is top quality, and he has an eye for colors. His fabric linings have the occasional internal zippered pocket, but not an abundance of them. He focuses on expert leathercraft. The bags are all very well designed, attractive and practically flawless. Makis says he only sells items he feels he can make well. So you will find many types of hand bags, shoulder bags, purses, carry-on luggage, belts and some sandals, but not much else. Makis is a very kind and polite person, and his English is very good. His prices are very reasonable. We had a great visit, and are very happy with our purchases.

Superb Leather Goods
Apr 2015 • Friends
What a fabulous shop! The colour of the skins was incredible whilst the workmanship was excelent. Both my wife and I bought new bags from the shop and they are wonderful. Well worth a trip If you are in Corfu, do go to Govino Bay near Gouvia and visit the Leather Shop and you will not be disappointed. If Makis has not got what you want he will make it and it will be completed on time.

Maska Leather - best artisan on Corfu
Apr 2014 • Couples
We struggled to find genuine, locally made crafts of any kind on Corfu, other than the ubiquitous kumquat marmalade etc. Self-taught Makis Sakalis makes wonderful leather goods in the corner of his workshop 'Maska'. Given a couple of days, he will adapt anything you see or make a copy in different colours or materials. He will even copy items such as bags that you've seen elsewhere.

Atypically, for Corfu tourist shops, there was no pressure to buy. It would be hard not to, though, with wide-ranging styles and very reasonable prices. We spent a happy hour there and came away with two handbags but there were many other temptations such as belts and sandals.

You really need a car, to find him. Take the Paleokastritsas road out of Corfu town and he's on the right, 100m before the traffic lights where the road to Kassiopi takes off to the right (7-8kms from Corfu town, just beyond Gouvia). The tricky thing is that the shop is on an access road to the side. Ideally, you'd join the access road, but we missed it and had to reverse in to the exit from the access road, a few metres before the traffic lights. Alternatively, once you realise you've gone too far, go straight on at the lights, park and walk back.

PS Makis is very personable, good to chat to. And he plays fine music in the background.

PPS Sounds like a promotional review? It isn't; we were just so pleased to find such a special place.
