I took the boat over which is 5 euros return. It goes from next to the mock pirate ship. There is a pretty walk through the pine forest to the other side where there is a small pleasant quiet beach for a swim. There were lots of wild flowers. There is a kiosk serving drinks in a nice cafe area by the port. People were swimming there too. There is a big mausoleum about Serbian men who lost their lives there in WW1. The last boat leaves at 5 pm.

50 minutes to take order ans 30 to bring a coffee. Kids with no experience. No management. Poor service and bad attitude.

Vidos is one of my favourite places on Corfu and I think a lot of tourists don't hear about it or notice it because they get swept up in a flurry of historical visits, shopping trips or wining and dining in the Old Town. I have been to Vidos little island a bit less than a kilometre from Corfu Town and from June to September can be reached in a small caique which leaves Spilia harbour just a few minutes walk from the the New Fortress. Crossings are hourly from 10 a.m. to midnight on weekdays, with a couple of extra crossings at weekends, and return on the half hour from 10.30 a.m to 1.30 in the morning. It costs the princely sum of 2 euro for a return ticket and you are rocked across the water to the miniature harbour opposite in about ten minutes. The island is only about half a kilometre in diameter and you can do a round trip on foot following the various paths in an hour or less, depending on how fast you walk. What I like about the place is that there is a feeling of calm there which, to me, is a welcome contrast to the hustle and bustle, chaos and mess of Corfu Town, especially on the days when there are two or three large cruiseboats docked in the New Port harbour. There are two large and four or five small beaches, so you can choose what kind of atmosphere and view suits you best. You can get straight off the boat and have a dip in the harbour area and enjoy the views of the Old Town of Corfu, with its gracious Venetian buildings opposite, sit in perfect peace under the shade of tall and fragrant pines a little further ou, or stroll at your leisure to one of the beaches on the other side of the island which has views of the eastern coast of Corfu with Mount Pantocrator, Corfu's highest peak, as a backdrop. My favourite beach is the less frequented of the two larger ones because I like its relative peace and privacy. I say 'relative' because there are sometimes yachts and tourist caiques moored in the bay, and there can be quite a lot of noise and loudspeaker commentaries. The sea is usually clean and clear there which, sadly, is more than can be said for most of the beaches on Corfu these days, and the little bay is surrounded by trees, and there is a shower there if you want one. The other beach is also nice but usually busier because it offers not only showers but refreshments and so is often preferred by families with children and those who do not bring their own picnics like I generally do. If you are interested in history, amongst other bits and pieces, you will find the remains of the old Venetian prison. The prisoners were apparently brought to the island via underwater tunnels and then incarcerated on the island. There is also a Serbian war memorial commemorating the fact that Serbian prisoners were cared for in a kind of makeshift hospital. Not many of them survived but the memorial stands in gratitude for the effort that was made on their behalf. Another thing way of enjoying the island is to have dinner out with a difference. Somehow getting on the boat and seeing a colourful sunset over the town and the pleasant setting of Menios' Taverna under pine trees near Vidos port, make going out more special. The taverna serves traditional Greek food in generous portions and you may be treated to the sight of semi-tame pheasants strolling in and out of the tables. A short time ago, one of the main attractions of the island was its population of rabbits, semi-tame themselves, and in all kinds of colours shapes and sizes, playing in front of you almost everywhere you went ... including in the taverna! Unfortunately, in-breeding or some kind of disease decimated the island bunnies, and the experience of going there is a little poorer for it. I went for the day yesterday and didn't see any but the friend I was with said she had seen one or two when she was there a month ago, so maybe the rabbits are doing what rabbits do and increasing once again. I certainly hope so. I would have given this attraction five stars if I had reviewed it last year. The reason I'm not doing so this year is that, for the first time, there was a lot of rubbish lying around on the beach I went to and along the paths. One of the things that so impressed me on previous visits was that the little rubbish cart - the only vehicle on the island as far as I know - would go round and round all day, constantly emptying bins and cleaning up. I am wondering if Vidos has not been hit by the financial crisis in the country too, and funds for services have been reduced. Even with that, though, I would whole-heartedly recommend spending anything from an hour or two to a whole day on the island just as a change from the busy, buzzy feel of Corfu itself at the height of the season.

The island is a pinnacle of Serbian experience in Corfu during WW2 and underlines firm bonds developed between Greek and Serbian people. It is somewhat sad that there is not much more of a educational element for tourists of any background by Serbian Government about this site, but likely reflects Serbian mentality that only us/Greeks can appreciate our suffering. Serbia is the country that had per capita the biggest amount of casualties in the Great War and I am sure many visitors would like to know that. For me, this visit was a pilgrammage, the silence of heroes buried in front of us on the bottom of the sea, spoke to my heart more and louder than if they were still alive. I am grateful to God I had a chance to pay respects, and am humbled by the care and respect of my history shown by the wonderful Greek people and kind Corfiots.

We were lucky that the Dine - Out here opened just before we came home.
The Restaurant boat picked us up at the Ikos Dassia Jetty and it only takes around 15 minutes to get there. We found the boat crew very caring helping us to board.
It was a lovely sunny evening and so nice to go there and dine outside. I recommend using insect repellant as there are lots of trees and I got my only bite all holiday on my foot.
Ikos Guests were given a menu - we were unlucky and waited for service and other tables were served before us. We had drinks but they then seemed to have forgotten us.
Anyhow it was lovely sat in the sunshine admiring the amazing view.
The older gentleman had greeted everyone on arrival and was asking was everything okay.We had a bottle of wine to share but my husband had a Corfu beer that he was proud to tell us had won awards. There is a good selection on the menu and the welcome plate was decorated nicely and all the crockery and glasses of a good quality. The food was good and they let me tweek the menu. Desserts were excellent to.
Half way through the meal lots of people came via boats from the harbour and they were seated under a covered terrace - we didn't rush to get the first return boat but stayed as we saw there was music on. Apparently it was the first evening the boats had come over from the harbour and the Restaurant was very busy. We enjoyed listening to the singer who we had seen at the Ikos briefly and it made for a pleasant evening. The younger owner I think sent shots of lemoncello round to everyone. He was asking was everything fine and it was very good.
We would go again as the view alone is worth it and we enjoyed the experience.
The return trip in the dark was nice as we saw the coastline lit up - it was a little blustery but they brought wraps round before we set sail for those who needed one.
The crew were very good and we arrived a little wind swept but very happy having had a nice evening on Vidos Island.
We were asked how we found the experience next day by Guest Relations and we heard some guests hadn't enjoyed it ! Please go and make your own mind up as it would cost a lot to go somewhere like this back home. In our view there was nothing not to like and lots to enjoy.

To be in Kerkyra City and not visiting the nearby Vidos (Vido) Island was just inadmissible.
We reserved for such matter one before noon. So we got one more time from our hotel to Kerkyra Town and afterwards headed from the Old Port with small boat, towards the northt, to the greeny islet of Vidos. It is located less than a kilometre from Corfu Town, and we got there in about fifteen minutes or less. When we went ashore, the first thing we saw was little chapel, very well maintained with the very neat entourage. Just to the left side, above the little beach is situated a nice restaurant, we can call it simply greek taverna and further a slanted rather narrow country road led in direction to some church.
But what is the most important on the whole island is the Serbian World War I soldiers' mausoleum as the honor place for over 5000 serbian people, that died here on the island after
the epic retreat of Serbian Army and part of the civilian population through Montenegro and Albania in 1915 in the fall, following the Austro-German-Bulgarian invasion of Serbia. When You enter in Mausoleum, some old rite or tradition implies to put the butts of the cigarettes and the little candles in the large ash space on the stone column. That represent the sign of respect to the brave soldiers. In the left and right wing of the building, You can spot on the wall from the floor to the ceiling, the rows and columns of the inscribed names and surnames of the died soldiers-heroes and not only that but also the regions of Serbia where they were born and the names of regiments they served army in. Unfortunately due to small area of the island and its rocky soil, the dead were buried in the sea, near the island, and subsequently the very touching poem was written by the serbian poet Milutin Bojic ( after World War I), called Blue Sea Tomb.
That visit was something rather moving for us two.

Take a boat from Corfu for just 2 euros (round trip) and enjoy being far from turists. Beautiful island, many tress, 3 beaches, breeze and shadow spots to rest.

This is a small island just off the coast of Corfu Town which we visited by taking the fast boat from the harbour which was an experience in itself.
From landing we walked to the right and soon came to the Serbian mausoleum ( which we hadn't known about) which was a point of pilgrimage for a number of Serbs whom we came across during our visit. Having looked into the history after our return home we found that "the terrible retreat across the mountains of Albania ...cost the lives of some 200,00 Serbs before they were evacuated to Corfu" ( Under the Devil's Eye by Alan Wakefield and Simon Moody).
Walking completely around the island and through the peaceful woods we passed the location of the hospitals which cared for the wounded who fled here from mainland Europe.
There were few other visitors even on the beach where we stopped for a lovely swim in a sea which had the warmest water of our trip. The beach was pebbled and ideally we would have had rubber bottomed shoes.
As we circled back up to the ferry departure point we passed the old buildings described as a former scout camp ( above) but these were in use with tens of young teenagers staying there.
We stopped at the restaurant for a drink but so loved the location we ended up eating there. The views of Corfu Town across the water were stunning but easier to see than capture on a camera. The menu was adventurous and enticing and we thought we needed to come back here on our next trip.
We had a lovely lovely day which just wasn't described in our guidebook and so totally unexpectedly educational ( with good food)! A highlight if you are in Corfu Town.

Spectacular and slightly ghtly eerie Island just minutes from Corfu Town Port is certainly worth a visit. Transport across is a small speed boat €4 for return trip leaving on the hour just before the port across from petrol station and Juice bar, (which is also worth a visit.) There’s a abandoned village, Scout Camp and a Serbian war memorial, lovely walks and beautiful views across to Corfu. There is a taverna but wasn’t open on our visit, we would have stayed and explored longer if it had been. Would love to make a return visit 😍😍👍👍

Ciao, appena sbarcati c'è subito dove potersi godere un bel bagno o si deve per forza inoltrarsi nei sentieri e se non lo si vuole fare è inutile andare?
