This is a special place in Ioannina. It is quiet and seems to belong to another age. Go early in the morning, while everything is very quiet, absorb the imagery surrounding you and then take the short uphill path leading to the grave of Ali...More

The place is interesting however it does not impress too much. It shows the rich history of region (Ottoman rule, etc). The most precious are probably the views from the castle. I was far more impressed by the Archaelogical Museum.

We understood that the castle is actually an area, surrounded by ancient walls. Strolling in the narrow and old streets was very pleasant. At the highest point there's an old mosque and a beautiful view point. Worth the visit!

This is a MUST visit! The Walls are so imposing, there are many museums to visit, but even if you don't feel like it, just amazing the Ottoman architecture of buildings is enough. There's plenty to learn about the history of the Castle, a guide...More
