Firstly, let's deal with the price. It seems expensive, but actually it's very good value for money. This is a private tour. You could of course go to the region in a coach, but you would not see half the sights, and you certainly would not be taken to the best ones, the roads are just too narrow, steep and windy. George is an excellent and safe driver, and his car i (Website hidden by Airbnb) that can navigate the smallest and humpiest of stone bridges. There are plenty of extras included in the tour, including lunch. Now, I have been on excursions where they serve you the tiniest amounts of macaroni in tomato sauce. With George, you go to the best of the tavernas in the area, with the best view, the owner tells you what they have, and you order whatever you want and eat the meal with George. Me and George had beef with fresh porcini. Porcini, for goodness sake! My partner had freshly caught river trout and wild greens, and the Greek salad had vegetables from their own garden. I don't know how much it cost because George paid the bill. Anyway, this is not a restaurant review. You can do whatever you want for as long as you want, although it's best to let George guide you, as he grew up in the region. It's not a start at nine, back to your hotel at five type tour. Ours lasted an extra hour, and others have lasted much longer than that. I don't need to describe how wonderful the Vikos Canyon and Zagori region are, because as you are reading this you are already interested in going, but it exceeded my expectations, there were many wow moments, and now it is one of my favourite places in Greece, if not the world. But the best thing about the whole trip is George himself. He is such a happy, enthused, generous, interested, caring person - a really lovely man. He just wants you to gave a good time, and will be as flexible as possible to accommodate this. We felt that we started the day with a driver/guide, and ended the day with a friend.
