Emailed to enquire about a rental a week before I was due to arrive in parga. Response was €90 for boat hire and to ring a couple of days before to finalise. When I phoned to confirm booking he said the hire would be €100. So after I rechecked my email I called him back and he said ok, €90. I also asked how much the fuel would be he said €25-€30. Collected the boat at 10am and filled in the paperwork. I suppose this is where alarms bells should have been ringing, he didn’t inform me on the phone or email that I would need identification. But then said he wasn’t bothered about it anyway so gave my name and hotel details. Upon returning the boat at 4pm as arranged at the dock one of his staff got on the boat and took the boat back out into the open. I thought he was just going to moor somewhere else, but he then checked the fuel tank and said it will be €60. Clearly he had taken us back out on the water in an attempt to ransom us to pay the money. I refused and called his boss and he said “no problem I will call the police” I said “fine, we will meet them back on the dock” the staff member then took us back to the dock and the boss turned up and we ended up in a discussion. His argument was the fuel tank held 30litres and he charged €2 a litre. I said there is quite clearly at least 5litres left in the tank, but he wouldn’t have this, saying that was the reserve! So a 30litre fuel tank has the capacity to carry 5 litres plus 30? Needless to say he didn’t call the police. In all it left a bitter taste on the day. The cost of the fuel is not really the issue, it was the deceptive way in which he tried to extract the money by- A, Giving 2 different prices for the hire B, leading me to believe the fuel would be €25-€30, when clearly his experience should have led him to say what the maximum could be. C, The intimidating way that he tried to extract the money by making sure I was not on shore when they give you the final price for fuel. I could see for some people this could be quite distressing. So all in all whilst the boat trip itself was a good day out, I would recommend you find an alternative company because this one does not deserve your hard earned money

Response from Achilleas L, Owner at Parga Boat Rental
Responded Sep 27, 2019
So my friend... you asked me for an estimate on gas and I said to you the half cost of the tank because this is what most of the people use. If I wanted to have you as a prisoner in my boat believe me I could do that. The reason for that is very simple... the ladders in the pier are not for staying there long time because is for drop off people and the opposite. Also if boat pass the time you want to discuss about something the boat will crush because it’s staying there without anchor . For the rental price now... the normal price is 100 for the full day but because my site is unupdated you saw the 90. I agreed with that to make the price 90. And lastly you didn’t want to pay the gas you used and at the end you paid 10 euro less as agreed for not having a bitter taste. But this doesn’t happen because you left like a child that doesn’t take what he wants. So I make you a gift of 20 euros and still not happy. Next time tell to the manager how much you want to spend exactly to find a better deal for you and for the owner.

Good fun. Not cheap. Full instructions before you leave the port. Boats can shift if you want them to. The only thing we were not told is the cost does not include the fuel so when we returned they tried to charge us for it.

We booked the Rib with Captain for two days. The owner, Achilleas took us to some amazing places. The first day we went south down the coastline and Achilleas showed us some amazing places to snorkle. Beeing an experienced freediver Achilleas dived and snorklet with us. He even caught an octopussy he brought up for us to try to hold. The second day we went to Anti Paxos and he showed us even more beautiful places and even a wreck. He even tought the boys tips and tricks to how to free dive properly. I recomend to spend a day with Achilleas. He will go the extra mile to make your day perfect.

We contacted Parga Boat Rental via email a month before our scheduled holiday and enquired aboat hiring a boat for two days and we wished to travel over to Paxos and Anti Paxos on day trips. Achilleas replied with availability and prices. They have some Poseidon Blu Water 4.8 meter with a 30hp engine but this is recommended for shorter trips. We decided on the 6.5m inflatable RIB with a 220hp engine. We were staying at the Lichnos Beach Hotel. Achilleas brought the boat to our hotel beach and we were given a safety demonstration before setting off back to Parga harbour, Here we were shown how to dock the boat at the jetty in a front on fashion using the anchor at to the rear. After paying the boat deposit (excluding fuel) we set off across the channel to Anti Paxos (Vrika Beach). We were advised to run the engine at about 25 knots. Although the sea looked pretty calm from the shore, there were some big swells out in the ocean, so at times the speed needed adjusting. It took about 35 mins to reach Vrika beach where we moored for most of the day. We swam to shore and had lunch at the traditional beach bar. On our return we were able to anchor the boat off the beach at our hotel overnight we saved a lot of hassle. The following day we explored Paxos and ended up back at the beautiful Vrika beach. We returned to Parga and met up with Achilleas at the slipway as we needed to get the rib on the trailer for re-fueling and cleaning. After a fuel stop he kindly dropped us off back at our hotel. Costs for 2 full days: Boat 400 Euros, Fuel 200 Euros which may seem quite a lot but we did cover a lot of leagues... The smaller day boats are cheaper if this suites your trip. The website is a bit out-of-date, but my advice would be to contact Achilleas by email or phone. He is very helpful and speaks good English. Thanks you very much indeed.

Rented a boat for 3 hours(to me it was enough). Boat rental 60 euro ang gas 35 euro (depends on your trip). DRIVING A BOAT IS SUPER EASY. You can stop and anchor at amazing beaches, swim a little and continue the trip. Highlight of our trip to parga.
