Great little beach easily accessible from town. Simple but good. Tasty food, cold beer and a good swim.

Great little beach just a short walk from town. Mornings or a bit later in the afternoon is my favourite times of the day as it can get a bit crowded mid day.

The little taverna right on the water offers simple but tasty well cocked food and a beautiful view over the inlet to Symi harbour. Watch the yachts roll, in while you enjoy a cold brewski and a mousaka. 😅

I like to swim, snorkel and freedive, and have found that there is quite a pleasant swim off of the far end of the beach. Lots of little fish, and there is even a ship wreck like 100m past the water sports place. Keep an eye out for a buoy, it’s attached to the wreck. You can check it out from the surface but if you want to dive down the most shallow part is like 10m down.

There’s also a water sports place at the end of the beach so if you want to rent a jet ski to check out the surroundings a bit more, or just send the kids off on a sofa ride that’s also an option. Pretty neat.

All in all, if you go to Symi, this place is a given. Not luxurious, or pretentious in any way, but a good spot to cool down, relax and enjoy.

nearest beach to Symi town
Jun 2021
Plenty of sun beds in a quite small area - but nearest to Symi town if you don't want to catch a taxi-boat to a more distant beach. The cafe and taverna are of a high standard - and great views over the sea, and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Visit to Symi & Nos Beach
Oct 2019 • Couples
My wife and I went on a day visit to Symi during our weeks holiday to Rhodes. The ferry crossing from Rhodes Town and the return trip were fine.
There was not a huge amount to do in Symi Town apart from visit some of the many cafes or restaurants.
We walked to Nos Beach from the town which took about 15 minutes. It is a thin strip of shale beach covered in sun loungers and umbrellas. We went to the far end away from the bar as the only seats available were here. Apart from the strong smell of glue coming from the tiny boat yard at the end of the beach, our visit was bearable. The sea was clear but you needed beach shoes to walk over the stones to get in. Once in it was lovely, however after getting out you had to pay to have a fresh water shower. I didn't have any change in my shorts funnily enough so didn't bother. A bit mean to charge for this facility considering they charged 10 euros for the sun beds!
OK to while away a couple of hours, but would not want to spend any longer than that. A pretty very traditional Greek harbour town.
There were quite a few refugees wandering around the town as well, probably a popular destination considering Symis close proximity to Turkey.

Not the best beach
May 2019 • Couples
Friday 31st May, our first day in Symi, and we visited this sandy pebbbed beach which about 10 to 15 minute walk from the town of Gialos.

We walked along Symi Harbour, past the Clock Tower and kept on going around the headland, we followed the signs to the Beach.

There were 2 rows of sunbeds and umbrellas along the beach, €4 each, there was a stone pathway between the rows of beds, making access easier and more accessible. It did feel a bit claustrophobic as the beds were so close to each. The pathway ran the length of the beach and led to a concrete area where there were more sunbeds

There was a taverna on the beach, Paradise Nos Beach Bar, where we had a beer. There were water sports available on the beach. At the back of the beach is a terraced water feature with flowerbeds.

Must admit there are nicer beaches on the Island, which are away from the town and accessible by water taxi.

Nos beach

Horrible, dirty filthy beach, the owner is the most horrible man I have ever met in Greece. We visited the beach at 9.30am, sunbeds still filthy from the previous day, his staff were operating noisy machinery, the far end of the beach area was an absolute mess, strewn with bottles, can's and plastic bags, the bed's had not even been put back tidy. A Greek man on his own decided to tell the owner what he thought about it, the owner wasn't happy, we then decided to leave, along with another couple for the same reasons, on the way way past the horrible owner I decided to give him what for, told us to f_ _ k off! Far better beaches on Symi than this. Avoid 😎

A shame

Symi is such a beautiful resort .. This beach could be lovely but the man who seems to run it seems not to care .. The beds are not in good shape and the staff who work for him are shouted at ! Also they have digging equipment which they use even when you are lying on the beach ... Do yourself a favour and take the water taxi to the other gorgeous beaches nearby

Good & Bad

Nos beach or the town beach is situated around to the left of the main harbour.....

There are all the usual amenities you would expect.....Taverna......which has a lovely view across the bay....the food is good but average....
Toilets which are clean but not exceptional

The beach itself is gravel with plenty of sun beds and is visited regularly by day trippers to Symi from Rhodes or is useful if you are limited for time and don’t wish to take a taxi boat to one of the other stunning and beautiful beautiful beaches.

On the down side the owner is a surly Greek who seems to spend most of his time digging up the beach with noisy machinery irrespective of how many people are trying to relax.....
The sun beds and accompanying tables are poorly maintained & often broken.....this however doesn’t distract the owner from charging 5€ for a sun bed...the most expensive on the island.....

If you have limited time....then Nos is ok...the water is clear and good for swimming.....however if you like peace and quiet and comfortable sun beds with a average price of 3€...with good nearby Tavernas......there is plenty of other choices

Closest beach to the port
Sep 2018 • Couples
Nos is a very convenient beach being just round the corner to the main harbour at Symi. The beds are plentiful and it has the sun until around 3/4pm*. Beds are around €5pp. Drinks are similar. The staff are alright and the boss man is quite a character. Handy place if you don't fancy leaving the main town. Bring your swimming shoes to manage the rocks. The view is gorgeous of course. Fresh waters

The beach is small, nevertheless, the sea is very wide, fresh and clean!
There’s a restaurant just beside it where you can enjoy a meal on the beach.
You can rent a sunbed for 5€ and get a shower for another 5€

Beach Improved
Jul 2018 • Couples
The owners obviously took notice of the complaints and cleaned up the beach. Whilst I arrived there were workers raking the light gravel and removing larger stones and any foreign objects.

The water quality was very good. If you are stuck for time and cannot go the nearby beaches this is now a good option for a local swim at Simi town. The staff at the tavern were friendly.
