It was a 30 minutes stop en route from Rhodes to Symi . It is ok , not great , not entry fee , nothing to do . We didn't have a guide so we did not know what we are looking at. We had to search online . It is a small place that you can visit in under 1 hour , they have a museum (only religious orthodox exhibits ) that you can visit for 3 euros . They also have a souvenir shop of mostly religious items . Next to the monastery there are are a few restaurants and shops .

On my second day on Symi I took the 10:30 mini bus that runs to Panormitis. The trip takes about thirty or forty minutes and tickets cost €8 return from the Panormitis Travel office in the northwest corner of the harbour. The return trips were at 12:00 or 15:00. I opted for the former and was glad I had. Apart from the 18th century monastery, dedicated to the archangel Michael, there is very little to do at Panormitis.

My wife and I visited here on a round island boat trip where this was a scheduled stop. As someone else has said on here the view when you approach from the sea is magnificent. The Church was quite small but interesting. There was a small eclectic museum in the courtyard which was well worth the entrance fee. This museum covers aspects of living in the island including an extensive collection of model boats through clothing through to wine barrels.

Well worth a visit.

Spending a long weekend in Symi and thought we should at least visit here as everyone mentioned it as a place of interest. Drove from Gialos which although only about 12 miles took about 45 minutes due to the winding roads up and down the hills.
We didn’t get the stunning view of it as we approached as some have mentioned because of not arriving by boat. It was pretty quiet when we visited and the monastery was lovely but we only spent 10 minutes inside then had a drink at the outdoor cafe. The Wood Oven had nice pasties and this was definitely worth a visit. The toilets are squat ones so be prepared.

If you only have few hours in Symi as day trippers, this is a must stop place to visit besides some beautiful beaches. Beautiful architecture and what a great place to visit. We love this side of Symi. We would skip spending too much time at the Gialos harbour in the other side of island to stay away from the shops and tourists foreigner bars. This side feels a lot more tranquil and clean. Gialos is too disappointing and people do not practice safe distance and wear masks at restaurants and bars as they should have. We don't feel safe on that side. Panomitis is a pure gem!

Ornate and colourful set in green forests and deep blue sea in front. Free to enter the Church with its huge icon of Archangel Michael. Interesting to observe how religious locals are in the Church. Did not go to the museum. Found the Wood Oven which sells the most brilliant cheese pies! All freshly baked and warm.

It isn't a big place to visit, so don't plan to spend a day here. The museum is interesting and worth popping in to.
Outside the monastery there is a lovely 30 min walk round the bay. Follow the white wall in the opposite direction to the road entrance. You cross a tiny beach, then through a gate into a lovely area with benches in with fab views across the bay.

We came here by ferry from Rhodos Old Town, visiting both Symi town and the Monastery. Really a great Day out. Remember to visit the Monks Stone oven bakery for cakes, pies, jam to take with you. 1-2 hours visit is enough to explore everything

We came here on an organised trip and its a lovely place tucked away in a lovely bay.
The Monetary is a lovely place, even if you aren't religious.
Other than that there are a few shops down a side street and a cafe to pass away your time.
