All though you are not the spiritual person, or have the orthodox Christian belief, the scenery is breathtaking and a must see spot when visiting Leros.

The Church inside the Panteli Castle houses the original Madonna and Child that is often duplicated. History legend has this icon at about 2000 years old and often stolen by Turks during the Centuries, but always reappearing...so the entire chapel is built to house this...More

Access via the windmills road and a good road flanked by a huge down drop to the sea. Ok but not very nice on a very windy day. The castle is magnificent a nd the nearby church has a 1000 lb German bomb in the...More

The castle also has a church and museum attached to it which are very interesting to say the least. There are a lot of uneven steps and the views at the top are breathtaking.

There isn’t much to see of the castle itself but the views are stunning. Go up early or late it’s quite a steep and hot climb. 400 steps apparently, but once there it’s well worth the toil and the lady custodian is lovely. She gave...More
