What a fantastic little winery! We were greeted by Giorgos who , along with his lovely wife, were in the process of transferring some wine from a fermentation vat into a maturing vat before bottling. He took great pleasure in explaining the processes he uses for making his white, rosé and red wines and then invited us to sample some. What followed was an hour of wonderful chatting over different wines and local produce, including their homemade goat's cheese that is soaked in merlot for 3 days! Whilst all the wines were nice, the red was simply stunning, (we live in France & have tried a bottle or two over the years), and would stand up well to competition against wines from all over the world. Wel' done to the Hazidakis Winery and we will be sure to visit you again when we're next back in Leros!

Top places to visit in Leros. Such beautiful hosts - a husband and wife.

They serve a plate of food from the gardens along side with a tasting of delicious wines.

Would highly recommend making a stop!

We were a group of seven adults visiting Leros for a week over Easter in April 2017. One day we rented a car and visited many of the listed sights and things to do on the island. When we drove north from Lakki we noticed some signs at the side of the road saying 'wine route'. We followed the signs on the road towards the airport and found the Hatzidakis Vineyard at the end of a side road on the right hand side. The gates were locked - but a neighbor to the vineyard who was going into town said he would call the owner and tell him that a group of seven would like to visit.

And sure enough, 15 minutes later the owner of the vineyard and his wife arrived and opened the gates. We were shown around the well kept and beautiful vineyard and then invited inside to see the barrels and production equipment - and to test the wines.

The brand name of the wines is Iokallis - which refers to the goddess Artemis and the remains of her temple located nearby the vineyard. The wines are very good - both red, rose and white. The wife of the owner served some very dry and tasty cheese with the wine - but we were told that if we had called in advance and made a reservation she would have presented a bit more food.

When you are on Leros visiting the Hatzidakis Winery is highly recommended. We bought a few bottles at EUR 8 per bottle - which is a good price for this excellent local wine.

We decided to follow road signs to a wine route whilst visiting north on the island and came across an absolute gem. The owner of the winery was massively welcoming showing us around the equipment before letting us try his range of wines. The wines were great and he offered us food to go with the wines. Absolutely worth a visit if your on the island. We ended up walking away with a number of bottles. Heads up, the tasting measures aren't small!

So if you are going for nice wine, you will get it! You will try red, rose and white and all of them are lovely! If you call ahead (have someone who speaks Greek around just in case) you will get homemade meze with vegetables from the garden too. But most importantly you will have an amazing personal tour where the owner will tell you everything about wine, figs, Greece and the tourists that come to the island. The hospitality was the thing that made this day so special! If you feel like staying longer you can buy a bottle and consume it on the lovely premises! Do not forget to try the olive oil too! All in all one of the best experiences I had on the island so far! Only 8€ per person!

OMG!
You know you're in the most authentic place when the owners of the vineyard take you to see the grapes, teach you about their wine, sit you down for a little meze and a wonderful wine tasting of their own wine! Don't miss the chance to visit this wonderful place, to get to talk to the sweetest owners, to taste their products, to see the landscape... To fall in love with kindness, nature and quality!
We've been back and it has been an amazing treat, again.
