Disappointing?
Sep 2020
Maybe the sun wasn’t shining when we were there and the waters were a dull grey. It wasn’t’ a brown sandy beach but more of a muddy coloured fine sandy one. It is however only 20 mins from the port and an easy walk.

Once you're at Rhodes find a day to visit Chalki island (or Halki). The first beach you could find walking from the harbour is Potamos. On the south coast the large Pondamos bay makes this beach have warm and shallow waters. It's good for both kids and adults. Despite this it was not so crowdy at the end of September. The water is crystal clear. And with Nick's Taverna aside you can enjoy a whole day at the beach and catch evening boat back to Rhodes. It's fun! I recommend.

Sand beach
Aug 2019
This is a sandy beach of dark sand which makes it look like mud in places. It isn't but it puts you off a bit.

Wonderful Beach

This is maybe the best beach of the island. The water was cold but due to the high temperature it was a masterpiece.

Sandy beach
Aug 2019 • Couples
A great beach for families and splashing around. The water here is warmer than the other beaches due to it being a lot shallower and sandy. In the morning it's very quiet but be aware in the afternoon LOTS of day trippers turn up for a couple of hours to swim and use the taverna. About 3.30pm they all disappear again. The taverna by the water has a lovely bar where you can sit and watch the water and the boats. The staff are lovely. There are toilets and a shower (you have to pay for the shower). Sunbeds 3€ each or sit under the trees or on the beach for free. Photos taken August 2019 on samsung phone.

Bit scraggy

Clean but not a proper sandy beach. Bring water shoes as its very rocky. A 10 or 15 minute walk from Emborio over the headland.

Not a bad beach. Could be a lot better if a little care was taken. Perhaps whoever rents the beach space should be responsible for its cleanliness. It’s not bad though, just odd and sods lying around.

Sandy beach near the town
Jun 2019 • Couples
Tuesday 4th June and is was our first day back on the beautiful Greek Island of Halki and we spend the afternoon sprawled out on this beach.

There are no sunbeds or umbrellas on the beach, they are on the raised land at the rear of the beach, with steps access to the beach. 2 sunbeds and an umbrella €6 for the day.

It is definitely the sandiest beach on the island and the easiest to get to, about 10 minutes walk from the town.

At the far end of the beach there is Nick's Beach Bar and Taverna

Along the left hand side of the beach is the coast road, an alternative way back into the town, walking past the small white Church and the blue domed Church and cemetery, all part of the wonderful scenic views from the beach.

Disappointing
Jun 2019 • Couples
This beach can be rather dirty. The sea brings in all manner of rubbish. One day we saw a fully inflated Lilo wash up. There are 50 sets of sunbeds and parasols on a raised terrace at the rear of the beach, and they soon fill up, especially at weekends, but are good value at six Euros/day. However, the ground is very dirty, with lots of bits of plastic rubbish. The sea water here can also have a lot of rubbish floating in it, and once we saw what appeared to be an algae floating on the surface.
On the plus side, the taverna is very good.
