Paradise bay, with transparent and crystalline sea, with restaurants offering typical dishes and very fresh fish.
Both free and serviced beach with low-cost sunbeds.
It seems that time has stopped. Just above the beautiful village of Spoa, with a typical Greek inn overlooking the sea.

Lovely and spacious sandy beach with crystal clear water on which almost all days is windy. For us one of the nicest beaches in Karpathos especially because of waves which are ideal for playing with. Sunbeds for whole day - 15 euros.

Really nice shallow sandy beach. However, we came in October so no taverns nearby open. But on the other hand, we had the beach almost to ourselves apart from a few locals. Very nice nature around the beach and nice road to get there from Pigadia.

This was the last beach I visited on the island of Karpathos. If you like a beach with calm waters and more people go to Ammoopi beach, if you like to have fun in the water and be hit by waves then Agios Nikolaos is the beach for you. Agios Nikolaos is a quiet beach with nice fine sand situated on the west coast of Karpathos. I took a bus from Pigadia to Arkasa and then it's just a short walk down to the beach. There's a few historical sites to see in the area along the way as well as one or two tavernas. It can sometimes be windy here, but it's more of a nice cool breeze which I found quite refreshing! The breeze tends to make the sand a little easier to walk on also. In fact I enjoyed this beach so much I had to go the following day also, shortening my usual final day of souvenir shopping!

I went to this beach 6 times out of the 11 days I was on Karpathos. It's about 35 minute drive from Pigadia, on the west side of the island. The beach is very sandy, and you must walk a ways in the water before it starts to come up to your chest. I would get there late morning, and it was not crowded. The sunbed and umbrella was 5 euro, and it is a very clean, organized beach. The was always a nice breeze, and some waves, and the water was warm. On a couple of days, it was a little more windy, and the waves were a bit to big to go swimming.

Agios Nikolaos beach is a beautiful sandy beach in Arkassa village. Very close to many hotels, organised beach with umbrellas, sunbeds, shower. There is a nice bar over the beach, where someone can drink a coffee or eat a snack.
The beach is clean and the water blue. There are waves which offer an amazing experience of swimming. There is usually wind so we enjoyed the fresh air!
As it is located on the left side of Paleokastro, it offers the choice to make a combination and visit Paleokastro hill and Agia Sofia church during your day in the beach!

This beach, with crystal clear waters, even if average in atmosphere, is strategically located in order to be closed to Votsalo restaurant (very good taverna) having breakfast while waiting' for Vasilis and his fantastic water taxi. He will show you, for a incredibly reasonable price per person, some of the most beautiful beaches of the island, not reachable by car (caves and abundance of small rocks and swim thru) and at the end you are entitled to be "abandoned" on your favorite and picked up at the end (or half, you choose the time of pick up) of your sunny day. It's the most valuable service of Karpathos island, don't miss it. We were really happy to be alone of along day on a solitary beach !

If you are looking for a small and quiet beach, with just two tavernas...no market at all and a few apartments for rent, then this is a great place, to escape from the problems, civilization, relax and forget all the troubles. It is easily accessible by car, but it is really small, do not expect anything else. And yes, the water is great, as almost in all the Karpathos beaches :)

I couldn't find a listing for this wonderful beach, which is sandy, there are rocks on the far right near the mountain, and you can walk quite a long way into the water, it takes a while to become deeper.
The beach and the water are great, my only problem was the strong winds and waves. But in Karpathos there is a trade off- on the west coast you have sandy, easy to walk on, beaches with winds and waves, and on the east, still water, less wind, but mainly pebbles and rocks.
The beach is well equipped, there are showers in a good location, a cafe and restaurant (although we didn't get a chance to check them out)
A hotel a couple of minutes walk from the beach.
There's a volley ball net, and some people were playing

First visit to Agios Nikolaos and won’t be our last. Weather fabulous, lots to see and do. Visit Spinalonga, a must do boat ride. Restaurants really well priced. Went to Almiros Beach, beach bar sold delicious toasties at a reasonable price. Also attended the local football match, the Greeks made us very welcome.
