Went to Kalymnos on three island boat trip and had a short time to see around. So had a quick look around it amazing place but had to get back to boat. Will go back to Kalymnos and have a proper look round.

Called in the museum. They explained how back in the day how dangerous it was collecting the sponges. And showing you the different ways they have been collecting the sponges over the years .. was very educational

If you want to know more about the island this is a great place to spend a few hours, written displays in English / Greek, with artifacts that have been found on the island and in the adjacent seas. Air conditioned

Contrary to the Website, and some posts, the museum is not open on Sundays. Don't know how recently that has become the case, but it is only open Tues thru Friday currently. We drove the network of tiny streets, which are quite an adventure themselves....More

Beautiful building cool airy and the exhibits set out superbly. Highlights the lady of kAlymnos and the statues to Apollo . The staff are lovely and the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. All this for 4 euros (2 for concessions !)
