Stunning seting, and really nice interior with old icons. Most beautiful church we have visited on Sifnos. Easy access also.

The Church of the Chrisopigi Monastery is worth a look, not only its site on the rock amidst the sea, but also the interior with its ancient icons. Once a year at Pentacosta its the place of the most important religious fest of the island.

We missed the hours to go in to the Church/ Monastery but we peered through the window and could see that it was lovely. Several of my friends swam in the sea (but not all, as it was quite windy) which was welcome after a lot of hiking. Afterwards we had a lovely dinner at the first taverna on the beach nearby.

The Monastery of Panagia (Our Lady) Chrissopigi is one of the most beautiful monasteries of Greece, not to be missed out if you visit Sifnos. It was built in the 17th century and is located on breath taking small peninsula, brilliant in white neighborhing crystal clean blue and azure sea waters. It is the patron of the island and is highly celebrated nine days after Easter, on the day of Zoodochou Pigis. Very popular spot and church for weddings with clean beaches, sandy, pebbles and rocky to the right of the monastery, and attractive fish tavernas on the waves to enjoy local dishes and fresh fish daily catches. It is easy to get in few minutes drive from Apollonian, the capital of the island. Don't miss to visit this place...it is a rewarding experience to remember foe ever!

The coastline from Kastro to Platys Gialos is exceptional and the high spot is the monastery Panagia Chrissopi which is a must see destination on Sifnos. The monastery is stunning, beautifully kept and very popular for local weddings.

The monastery is beautiful, with a very serene feeling. The icons inside are exceptional, and the stories behind them are fascinating. I particularly liked the story of the split in the rock leading to the monastery. I wish I had had the time to swim in the beach beside it.

The church is marvelous and the beach nearby is quite and peaceful. There are no sun beds so you need to bring blankets or something similar
