€6 one way per person. It’s fast and safer than riding the donkeys. Luckily we arrived very early and there were no lines. Apparently the wait can be over an hour. The ride itself is only a few minutes.

Views were nice, but views were also nice from up top in Fira. I see this more as a means of transportation, but not a tourist attraction. I wasn't impressed. I also didn't really care for the port so our trip down was kind of...More

This is the quickest and best way to get up and down the old port. Cost was about €2pp each way and the whole journey lasts about 2 minutes. Brilliant views over the old port. It can be incredibly busy if a cruise liner comes...More

We arrived on a cruise ship & once we tendered to shore we went straight to the cable car. There was hardly a queue & we paid the €6 each to go up. We watched people walk to the top & it looked incredibly steep....More

If you want to get from Thira to the quayside then this is one of three options. (1) Donkey (look more like mules to be honest) - not for us on ethical grounds, (2) walk - 30 minutes down if young and healthy (avoid donkey...More

We've visited Santorini on a few occasions and in common with other reviewers we have experienced long queues for the cable car to Fira, both up and down. This time ours was the only cruise ship in town and after taking a later tender from...More

Be prepared to wait!! We waited 1 1/2 hours in line. Not just in any line but in a hostile line! There was loud arguing and some physical fights over people cutting in line. I would just be very prepared before getting in line. Also,...More

It’s a little expensive to ride the cable car (it’s a 5 minutes ride), but for those capable of walking up or down, it’s a better view and better for your health. But watch out for the donkey waste and piss on the path ;-(...More

Had to queue for 45 minutes to get the cable car down to the port, however it was a better option than going down the steps on the poor overworked donkeys which were being used mainly by our oversized friends from over the pond. Ride...More

We took the cable car down and the donkeys back up and I recommend either, depending on your inclination.

The cable car is not scary, you end up being in awe of the view more than anything. But yes there is a walk that will take forever so i'm told, along with donkeys.

I thank she may have problems because of the steps on the pedestrian streets after getting off. This little town is not for wheel chairs.
