If you want to use Google Maps type in the full name of the church (not monastery. It's a very interesting site. The church was built in three stages. The firs one was done in the 4th century, the next two in the 7th and 12th respectfully. You can find a floor plan of the church with all three sections clearly drawn. Photography is not allowed, that is if you don't give a small donation. Otherwise you can take pictures and some of the frescoes are worth a shot.

Church very curious because built at different times with three naves oriented differently but all connected. It's next to the road. The interior features well-preserved frescoes. Free admission, photos without flash.

This place is the real location where one can understand the genuine servitude to Divinity. Small tabernacles with poor rays of light, totally made of stone carved over several centuries, with icons painted on the walls directly (murals), dated back to the year 600 AD. Let yourself time and avoid tourists, escape for few minutes inside of one of the chambers and let yourself go into nothing but the silence of the stones...

It's actually a very small church but very ancient with interesting murals and structure. The cemetery is rather new. Very near Halki village, you can see it in a quick stopover by the road.

Small church with amazing Byzantine fresco in poor state of restoration. Cemetery on property is worth a quick look as is the ossuary. The building itself is in incredible shape for its age. Glad we went

I expected this was a ruin. It's still a working church and as we visited on a Sunday lunchtime, church volunteers were still there. It was beautiful and very impressive to see the old carvings and paintings that still remain. Worth the brief detour to visit it by car.

From the late 6th century, it is one of the most revered churches in Greece. Fresco remnants from that era remain. Near Moni and Haiki. Go by car or on a half day tour of the island.

Some very old frescoes inside and an interesting architecture. That is about it - worth a short stay. Be careful as parking on the road on the mountain is tricky.

I understand the historic and religious significance of the church. Yet to most travellers it is yet another church. Worth a stop if you happen to be passing by but nothing so impressive just to make the trip there.

An easy drive after a visit to the Bazaios Tower and what a different atmosphere! The frescoes here are a mix of historical periods that have to do with iconomachy, Cretan hagiography and stern byzantine techniques. Unfortunately there's no personnel to guide the visitor but information pamphlets are readily available.
