Fantastic experience - would recommend for anyone wanting to go horse riding non the beach
We had a great experience and would highly recommend this to anyone. We loved being able to walk onto the beach and into the water. The guide made us feel very comfortable and made sure that we felt safe. 10/10

Nice one hour ride to the beach and back
Responded very promptly. Horses were responsive and seemed well cared for. Nice one hour ride to the beach and as experienced riders we were able to have a trot and and a canter en route to the beach but unfortunately not on the beach itself. Had planned on taking another, different ride but unfortunately was cancelled and they didn't rearrange.

    Excellent experience!
As an inexperienced rider, I particularly appreciated the care Kuriakos, our guide, took in choosing the appropriate horse for each one in the group, including a child and the tips he gave us before leaving for the ride. At one point on the ride, one of the horses refused to go on and our guide handled the situation very quickly and calmly with the horse. It is obvious that this person loves his horses and takes great care of them. I highly recommend this friendly local organization.

Before the experience we are discussing with the owner and I'm explaining my wife is highly experienced and on my side I had 2 experiences including with some experience gallop in Nevada. She tells in front of us one of the leads that if on the beach I don't feel comfortable to not do some gallop. That's fair. But once in the beach and after I ask to accelerate they decide to divide the group in two, giving my wife the possibility to gallop and only to walk on my side. Despite my will to accelerate, nothing. We are walking slowly on the beach and then we go back to the stable and that's it. End of the "experience". When I ask why did she refuse to even trot knowing that I already made some gallop she says it's because of insurances. In that case why not saying this at the beginning ? Sure I would not have booked this but it would have been honest at least. And why are we asked 3 times to pay knowing that we already paid ? Why if it's a question of experience and insurance didn't they give me any briefing ? If it's a question of insurance why do we sign a release form ? Money should not be the only objective ! A Naxos vehicule renter told us the same day he was ashamed when some people in the tourist business were able to destroy a part of the tourist trip, knowing that people work all the year for these couple of days. Shame on this horse business club.

I am sorry you didn't enjoy your experience with us. I spoke with both of you and explained that if the lead rider felt you were not competent she would not let you gallop. You agreed. You were definitely not competent. It would have been totally irresponsible to allow you to gallop when you actually couldn't control your horse properly in a walk. We do everything we can to ensure your safety, the safety of our guides and the safety of our horses. Unfortunately we have a very different idea of highly experienced. Your wife was asked several times to keep a distance from the horse in front but was unable to do so. We spend all winter working with our horses for people to enjoy in the summer. It's 365 days for us. We are a non profit making organisation and every cent is put back into feeding the horses. So I am sorry but it's shame on you.

My adult daughters & I spent a wonderful couple of hours riding. The horses were gorgeous, the ride was incredibly beautiful, especially along the beach. The host was really lovely. Would definitely do this again if I go back to Naxos

Both of us are beginner riders but felt very safe on our tour with Linda. The horses were sweet natured and riding on the beach was an experience we will never forget! Great way to see the island - Linda was so knowledgeable and great fun. Would definitely come again!!!

Linda, team and horses were great. We had such a beautiful hack to the beach where we got to canter! Exhilarating experience!

As intermediate riders, we have found previous hacking / horse riding experiences to be quite boring. This ride was much more interesting and exciting, we loved it!

Thanks Linda and team! Also, for recommending Sarris Taverna in town - food (and wine!) was the best!!

Avoid at all costs. Dangerous and unprofessional. Horses are not trained. Staff is not trained. Owner is very unprofessional- only accepts cash and did not provide a refund when her horse literally bucked me off. Expect to ride through a narrow trail with many briar bushes sticking out. No warning or instructions to wear long sleeves.

The horse I was on stopped to pee and lost sight of other horses. Then went into a full gallop and came to an abrupt halt which is when I was thrown off. I did a front flip over the horse and landed on my back. I was with my two children (13 and 9) and asked to go back. They said okay but then I asked them to find out of my kids wanted to continue. They LIED to me saying that they had spoken to my kids and my kids wanted to continue. This was a bald face lie as they never asked my kids. The kids rode for 2 hours with zero explanation of the state of my health and were afraid and crying the entire way. They asked to go back and were denied. The 15 year old girls leading the ride then teased them a little. They were literally hysterical when they returned. Both of my girls had cell phones but were not allowed to call me. This was not only unprofessional but cruel.

The ride was unsafe. There was zero instruction even though everyone on the tour was a beginner.

The woman who runs the outfit will only accept cash and has a “no refund” policy. She refused to give me my money back after I walked back to the stables with a ripped and dirty shirt and a huge bruises.

Unless you are an expert rider you should avoid this place like the plague. Don’t take kids here, ever.

And FYI this is the first review I have ever written in my life. I don’t like to spread bad energy but feel it is my duty to inform others about how dangerous and unpleasant this experience is.

Before posting reviews you really should get your facts straight. You come for a 2 hour ride as a beginner knowing nothing about horses so know nothing about training horses. These horses are fully trained all winter for riders of all abilities. The horse you rode is ridden regularly by children ,winter and summer. You were given basic instruction on how to stop start and turn both ways. I did this myself after I got you on to your horse. The girls who take the rides are all over 18 and the leader of your tour is 24 so no one of 15 was leading your tour. Your horse did NOT buck you off and certainly did NOT do a full gallop. Yes she stopped to pee and then tried to catch up the others. When she stopped you fell. You were unhurt and walked back to the stables where you were again asked if you were hurt and you said no. There were no rips in your shirt and you did not mention it at the time. It was your decision to return. Therefore I gave you a 50% refund. If we had decided that you should return you would have had a full refund. The tracks are narrow and it would be unsafe for horses to pass each other in the opposite direction but they are bamboo not briar. By the time it was completely safe it was halfway so just as easy to continue. One of your daughters dropped her phone which was picked up and carried by one of my girls. The other had her phone and could have called you. I would like to point out that at no time did you try to call them or ask me to call my girls. There were in fact 2 very experienced riders on the tour who did gallop on the beach and had a great time. I am sorry this was not a good experience for your family but there are many other riders of all abilities who have a fantastic time and return year after year.

Me and my friend booked a two hour beginner tour with Linda. When we arrived we were shown our horses - everyone else's horse were together and quite small. My horse was huge (for a beginner like me I was terrified) and was separated from the rest of the horses. I was so nervous getting on but Linda assured me that this was a lovely horse and wouldn't cause me any hassle. Two minutes into the tour my horse tried to kick the horse behind me and in doing so jumped up. I almost fell off and from there was petrified. The leader closest to me was nice but not the most helpful when it came to controlling my horse. I spent the whole two hours wishing it was over as I was so nervous. My horse spent the whole tour biting the horse in front of it and trying to kick the horse behind.

As we were coming to the end of our tour the front guide announced that we were going to try to trot. At no point while booking or before the tour was trotting ever mentioned - we were all beginners and I had no experience with this so didn't want to trot at all. I called out saying 'No I don't want to trot' but was IGNORED by the leaders. We started to trot and I had no control so yelled 'STOP' and we did. The leader then decided we would try again, and again I shouted that I didn't want to do it and several times asked could I PLEASE not trot. She trotted anyway and my horse decided to pull out of the line and gallop straight past everyone. I lost my balance and fell forward, lost the reigns and had to cling on to his neck to stay on. I was screaming for help the whole time but it took ages for one of the leaders to actually come to help me. I got back the reins, pulled hard and stopped my horse just as a leader came up behind. This spooked my horse and it galloped off again. This time I completely lost my balance and fell off the horses neck landing on my head and back. I was shaking and crying and the leader carried on as if NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. She told the rest of the group to stay calm and kept the line walking straight past me without saying a word to me. No leader got off there horse to check was I okay. My friend had to demand to be taken off her horse so she could come over to console me.

We walked behind the line of horses back to the range - all the while I was trying not to cry. I had smacked my head pretty badly and it was pounding. When I got back Linda hadn't even been informed yet and assumed everything went great. When I told her what happened and started crying she brushed it off as a little accident that wasn't a big deal. Told me to go and wash myself off and drove us back to town. She just wanted rid of us. None of the leaders checked my head or my injuries or showed an ounce of care or sympathy for what happened under their watch to a beginner rider.

I love horses but can now say I will never ride one again thanks to the negligence of this horse riding company. The leaders are young summer staff who did not know how to handle an accident - I'm just lucky it wasn't any more severe.

We are really sorry you did not enjoy your experience with us. However I must point out that all our rides are for all levels of rider not just for beginners or experienced riders. Horses are living creatures and can sometimes have an 'off day' the same as we do. It appears that this was your horses off day. She has carried many beginners in the 8 summers she has done this job. The size of the horse has nothing to do with rider level. Some small horses and ponies can only be ridden by experienced riders and big horses by beginners. If you had said you did not want to ride her ,we would have changed her . The guides ,who may only be in their 20's offer instruction before and during the ride. They are qualified riders and are trained guides. As a beginner you possibly would not know the different paces of horses and this horse trotted and when you fell forward your legs would have gone back which the horse would have assumed you were asking for a faster pace. At NO POINT did she gallop. The guides moved the other people past you to a safe position. You were helped and your horse was led back by a guide. At the ranch I distinctly remember advising you about concussion as you said you had banged your head. Also I did advise you to have a wash and relax . I then took you back to the drop off point which is the hospital. We have always prided ourselves on our safety standards and fortunately accidents are few and far between.

We did the sunset ride towards the end of September in a group of around 12 riders. We were picked up in town across from the hospital which was easy to find. First impressions when you arrive at the club are not great. It has a rag tag appearance and most of the horses look a little worn out. The ride itself, especially once you get to the dunes and the beach is very very nice. We didn't, nor did anyone else know that we would ride across to an island, the way back from which the water was up to your horses belly. Great experience except that my shoes, socks, and pant legs got soaked. You then stop right about at sunset at a beach bar where you can buy drinks or coffee and lounge around a bit. So wear water shoes and bring some cash along. In general the enjoyment level depended on how well your horse behaved. Most of us being beginners couldn't really control them completely. My horse was very agreeable and I very much enjoyed the entire outing but a couple of other riders definitely had issues with their horses and were happy when it was over. If you have only one day for an outing, do the Captain Panos Sailing trip in Naxos which was the best day of our trip (only 10 euros more), if you have a few days, this is a very nice outing too.

We were picked up at the meeting point in Naxos and taken out to the ranch. Linda was lovely and welcoming from the get go.
We got introduced to our horses and given some instruction by the guides as we were both beginners at horse riding. The tour was absolutely spectacular and we felt safe throughout the whole experience. A different way to see the island and definitely a memorable one!
Thanks to the team at Naxos Horse Riding for a great afternoon.
