About
Enjoy an off-grid vacation at the island’s longest uninterrupted beach. The crystal clear waters make it a great spot for swimming, and as the amenities trail off in the south, there are quiet sections of beach for you to relax in solitude. It's also a popular spot for nudists. It gets busy during summer so visit during the shoulder seasons between May to June, or September to October. If you want a little more beach fun, the neighboring Maragas Beach brims with beach clubs, hotels, restaurants, and water sports facilities. You can try to spot Plaka Beach on a sailing tour of Naxos. – Tripadvisor

- Travel TacticianAthens, Greece102 contributionsA Stunning Stretch of Golden Sand with Diverse Beach BarsPlaka Beach is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches on the island! It boasts a long stretch of golden sand that extends as far as the eye can see, making it a perfect spot for leisurely walks or a day of relaxation by the sea. The beach is lined with numerous beach bars, catering to every taste and budget. Whether you’re looking for a lively atmosphere or a more laid-back vibe, you’ll find a spot that suits your preferences. Plaka Beach combines natural beauty with excellent amenities, making it an ideal destination for anyone visiting the island. I highly recommend it for those who appreciate a picturesque setting along with a variety of options for enjoying the day by the sea.Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 8, 2024
- VA Doc6 contributionsSmaller than expectedAs someone who is used to Hilton Head island, this beach was disappointing. It is very narrow. The southern part of the beach is extremely crowded. Parking is limited and the roadway can be very difficult to traverse with cars parked on both sides. The water is spectacular, as are the views. However, even walking on the beach can be a challenge because you have to maneuver around so many people near the southern part of the beach. Once you get to the northern part it does open up a bit but it is a significant walk from the parking area. Compared to the other beaches on the islands, this is definitely one of the larger beaches. The best time to enjoy this beach is before 11 AM. It is then very crowded until about 7 PM.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 14, 2024
- Bryan B159 contributionsStunning beachPlaka Beach on Naxos is a long stretch of white sand with stunning turquoise waters, making it one of the most beautiful and popular beaches on the island. It offers a tranquil vibe compared to other busier beaches, making it ideal for relaxing walks along its 4-kilometer length. While parts of the beach are organized with umbrellas and sunbeds, other areas remain more natural and less crowded, catering to a variety of visitors. The beach is popular with both families and nudists, with the southern part traditionally attracting nudists. Plaka’s waters are clear and calm, great for swimming, snorkeling, and paddleboarding. It is also known for its beachside tavernas, which serve delicious local cuisine with excellent views, making it a perfect spot for a sunset dinner.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 23, 2024
- TorontoLadybugToronto, Canada438 contributionsParadise on Plaka beachPlaka was described as the most beautiful beach in Naxos and possibly all of Greece. We enjoyed the soft sand and translucent blue water. We found many of the beach clubs to have tired and well worn furniture. The prices to rent beds was higher than nearby beaches. We enjoyed our time but didn’t think it was any better than any of the beaches we visited. It was an easy walk back to Agios Prokopios with several stops for dips in the sea along the way.Visited September 2024Traveled with friendsWritten October 1, 2024

For sure a very nice beach, to me the second in Naxos after Mikri Vigla. Very wide and long beach strip, a bit detached from civilization, bit with many drink and bite options. The best of it was the diversified views over the sea and the different grades of blue water colors. Shortcoming is the wind and the sunset prices - we paid €15.

This part of Plaka Beach is not crawded in September - in the time, when the other places direction Agya Napa are full of people. After corona, these ones received one more line of the sunbeds and umbrellas, so the way direction north happened unsuitable.
Opposite part of the beach is traditionally clothing optional and you can make your walk all the aproximatelly 2,5 km, you like: swimsuit, topless, completely nude.
This part of the beach has good entry to the sea without any stones under water, the sand is on the beach as well on the bed.
The price of beach set happened that year 20 euro, so many peaple (and we did so, as well) can lay on the sand between the umbrella-sections.
Recommended accomodation and tavernas near: Three Brothers, Plaka 2 and much more others.

I came back from Naxos from 7 days and would recommend going to other islands, you can not find in the whole island a sunbed (1) for less than 20/25 euros, souvenirs at prices much much much higher than in Santorini , and I said it all! Food and restaurants same thing. Beautiful island but there are much more beautiful islands and more honest prices.

We stayed at a lovely quaint hotel in the middle of Plaka Beach called Glaronissi Beach suites and apartments , just across from the beach. The beach is fabulous and we loved the fact parts were clothes optional.
We walked south passed the 3 brothers restaurant and before you got to Nikos and Maria apartments there were 2 rows of sunbeds and sunshades blue and beige in colour. This was a perfect spot, and handy for lunch at either the 3 brothers or Nikos and Maria restaurants. The water is superb we stayed at the beginning of July and was fairly busy , but we managed to get our same subbed every morning.
we mostly turned right at night to go to the restaurants one of our favourites was Cedar Cafe relaxed chilled out music comfy seats and a great atmosphere, there are other great restaurants along the strip the new Italian was very nice Great place to Holiday will be back

A dream beach...
It has an equipped part but also has long stretches of free beach. Very fine sand alternates with pebbles.
It starts with dunes that host nudists.
It really is a beach for all tastes. We recommend "Summer Breeze" for cheap sunbeds (20 euros set).
The ideal is to spend a day at a calm and slightly windy sea to fully enjoy the fantastic colors of the sea and its rocks.

When I was planning our Croatia and Greece trip, I wanted to pick out a few places that we had never visited. I am glad that Naxos became part of our trip. Plaka Beach is fantastic. It is one of the most beautiful beaches that we have ever gone to. If you like swimming, sunbathing, water sports, or just enjoying nature’s beauty, then I can absolutely recommend Plaka Beach. We love it and the area so much that we are thinking about moving here, or having a second home here. Enjoy!!

This is a long thin stretch of sand with lovely clear waters and a stunning view of the nearby islands.
It is overrun with tourists all trying to enjoy the area in amongst the hundreds of beach umbrellas and businesses charging 50euros for the pleasure. Coming from California, the beach itself really isn’t that special, but the clear warm waters are worth the effort. We enjoyed it since we weren’t expecting to have the place to ourselves or even to enjoy peace and quiet. I can imagine how long time devotees of the area might feel it has been ruined. Bottom line: set your expectations and enjoy what it offers.

It is undoubtedly a beautiful beach. The desert-style dunes, the sea bottom never monotonously only sandy, the alternation of equipped areas and others free and wild, make it a postcard beach.
However, in our opinion, it is not the most special beach of Naxos.
Here is the final podium at the end of the holiday:
1. Moutsouna (beach, seabed, charming port-village around);
2. Agios Prokopios (fabulous beach, great snorkelling on the most marginal areas)
3. Aliko (sandy beach and rocks great for snorkelling, fascinating ruins of the tourist industry around).
Yes, Plaka summing up goes off the podium even if by a little. Bearing in mind that in a week and taking it easy, we visited a maximum of ten beaches preferring comfortable seabed but still beautiful to observe with mask and snorkel.

Such an amazing natural untouched beach. We arrived early in the morning and were among maybe 5 other people on the beach. The water was cold and crisp. Waves were gentle yet fun. There are beach chairs and umbrellas for rent but also lots of areas that you can bring your own. we spent about 3 hours on the beach leisurely watching people pass by and wind surfers gliding in the water. The sand was notably more soft than other beaches in Naxos.

Hi, does anyone know if the spots with lounges cost? and if there are lockers?
Written June 10, 2022
Hi. I am planning a surprise trip to Greece with my wife in June. We are interested in the clothing-optional section of the beach in Naxos. Wondering if they have beach chair and umbrella rental in this particular stretch of the beach? Thank you!
Written February 18, 2020
I did not see a clothing-optional beach, however we were there in October and the beaches were pretty much deserted.
From what we could gather, the beach chairs and umbrellas along the beaches in Naxos were mostly provided by the hotels and businesses along the stretch, including some of the restaurants/cafes.

Hi John,
Could I ask you where you stayed on Plaka Beach? You mentioned Villas 10m from beach?
Thanks
Kat
Written November 22, 2019
Every villa is at 1 or 2 minutes from the beach so you have several options here. It is the best area by far, it feels like being in the paradise. Plaka is the best beach in Naxos and also it's near the city centre, buses cost 2 euros and it's like 30 min trip. The hotel I were staying is called Aegean Land.

Hello is this beach a nude beach I will have a 9 year old with me and are there hotels and places to eat maybe rent him a board or snorkeling gear? Be there sept 29
Written July 13, 2019
Yes and no. At the very end of the beach it is full nude. My 10 year old saw it and quickly turned away and asked to walk back. But I do highly recommend it. Some ladies are topless but again my 10 year old boy ignored it (we are from America so it is not common for us). Please go to the beach.
