Church is very nicely located next to main pedestrian street in the old town on the square surrounded by cafes. It’s nice to visit it by walking in surrounding area.

It feels like you are somewhat taken over by the spirit of this church which we last visited in 2017.You really need to sit down and take five minutes to consume what you see and feel. I can imagine that local people visit just for thinking time as well as worship.

Worth spending a few minutes exploring the interior as you amble around the Old Town. The depiction of the execution of the 4 martyrs is a bit gruesome. Lovely church.

Dedicated to Cretan heroes Aggelis, Manouil, Georgios and Nikolaos, who were martyred in 1824, this magnificent church is at the center of just about every Rethymno religious and cultural tradition event. Reconstructed in 1975, since the previous buildings had been destroyed, the church is a three-aisled affair with unique icons by Fotis Kontoglou painted on its chancel screen. The remains of three of the four martyrs are also kept here. The church is centralöly located close to the Municipal Garden and the Guora Gate.
